I finally had to change my profile picture. The old picture of my youngest son was quite out of date considering he's going into 2nd grade next year :( He still enjoys going out to take pictures with me so there's still hope for him! |
There are so many old cemeteries in this part of NC so we are trying to post as many interments as possible to help all you researchers out. Also, most of the stones they used for markers in the 1800's are not standing up to the elements very well so it's a race against time to get as many pictures as possible. If you are looking for more NC relatives, I am working with the team of volunteers at cemeterycensus.com. They have surveyed and taken pictures of a ton of cemeteries in central NC.
One of the most popular questions I get emailed is asking permission to use "my" photos. The short answer is yes, you can use any pictures I have taken. I don't require references or accreditation because that's not why I joined the website and volunteer to take photos. I don't consider them my property unless you use them to somehow make millions of dollars (then I'd appreciate a small kickback) :)
Actively working on Oakwood cemetery in Mebane, NC. I've done four of the largest sections so it looks like it's all downhill now! I'm on a mission to finish the photographing the cemetery in the next two weeks, then another couple to finish the transcription.
Look at you guys! Since Findagrave has gone to the new edit system you all have sent me 7,704 edits & corrections. Keep up the great work!

I am glad that someone put my grandmother on find a grave.I knew that she was beside my grandfather but did not take time to list her thanks on my find a grave list tks Robert Duckworth
Thank you so much for processing the edits for the Locke family so quickly! A friend of mine and her family recently moved into their old home (which they are completely enamored with) and she feels quite connected to the family. I requested those edits on her behalf. Thanks again. --Julie

My thanks to you for those four memorials. I am grateful and it pleases me to know that a few good people still belong to Find A Grave! Levina and another remain in your care, but if you decide to send them home, I will be thrilled to care for them.

What a small world! I have friends in your neighborhood and we Trick or treat there every year, have probably admired your decorations in the past and will again next weekend. I'd be happy to walk the old section again and take more photos. I plan to stop by city hall this week to see what they have for records of plot owners. There are a few requests of internments I can't find.... Let me know were I can help what you have started. It is such a beautiful cemetery and holds important history and culture to our growing town.

Thank you for posting her memorial. She was my aunt even though she died long before I was ever thought about. She was actually only 16 months when she died. Her parents are Everett Johnson and Ruby (Carroll) Johnson. They are buried at the Big Lovely Cemetery in Breathit County Kentucky. Thanks again!!!

Is Mr. Koury still living? I haven't found any information about his death through Social security or other means. Thank you.
