Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a southern Pennsylvania resident and have been doing genealogy for 20 years, primarily on my mother's family. Her maiden name was Comer and she was born in Grayson County, VA. My sister, Linda, and her daughter, Shari, help me by taking many of the photos of the grave markers/stones and adding them to this website. They are a tremendous help to me.

If you would like for me to transfer to you any of your kinfolk that I have entered, please click the "EDIT" tab at the top of the memorial, then click "Suggest a Correction, etc." and, after entering your request, click "SEND". Find-A-Grave will then automatically email me with the memorial number you requested and your contributor number included. It is not necessary for you to type those numbers in if you use the EDIT tab. BTW, I am not too fussy or nitpicky about your relationship to the person you request since it's hard for me to fathom that you would want to manage the memorial of a person who is not related to you. I would like to think that your intentions are good and honest. So, with that said, I would be happy to transfer anyone as long as I am not related to him/her/it also.

Incidentally, please do not send the names of children to be posted to the bio of a memorial. It creates an additional burden that is difficult to keep up with. I will, however, link any family members if I am able to.

Also, most of the memorials I create are from the individual's death certificate. I post only the basic data that I find to include the person's full name, full birth/death dates, where born and where died, the name of the spouse(s) and the cause of death, primarily if it's accidental. I realize the info is not always accurate but at least it's a start. I will not post the death certificate to the memorial since I consider them to be relatively private and personal. There are often words and descriptions on the forms that I'm sure the survivors would not desire to have publicized.

Btw, I have found that the death dates listed on the certificates are generally very accurate and if they're off, it's usually only by a day or two. More often, the grave marker is in error when there is a conflict with the death certificate.

I found the first article in the newspaper and his obituary. He was a mechanic in a garage and spilled gas on him that ignited.

Thanks for the info.....MANY of my relatives died of Acute Nephritis. I have been diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease which is most likely what all these people had since it is genetic. It has been interesting following the way it came to me through relatives.

Thanks for all you do on Find A Grave

RE: My relatives
Falls Church...our niece and hubby have a new baby we just had to meet! His gma is my hubby's sister, and they are here from Portland, OR so we are seeing them also! Yay

A niece and a nephew in my fam both live in D. C., but we just saw them at the wedding of another niece last weekend in State College, PA. My hub is not up for D. C. traffic so probably won 't go there. Bummer

Been on the road for two wks so heading back to Iowa tomorrow.

Will stop in Washington and Butler Counties in PA to find graves and info on my hub's 2nd, 3rd and 4th great gr, so we have really had an awesome trip!

Ready to see my kitty...Jiffy! She misses me. 😺

Have a great weekend, Mr. RK...you are such an asset on Find A Grave!

My relatives
Hey, Rich, I just thought it would be fun to let you know I made it to Montgomery County, PA to visit the homestead my 4x great grandfather built in 1700s...still standing in the midst of city hubhub. I am related to half of those buried at Gwynedd Cemetery! I actually met a fifth cousin who lives nearby!!! 😃

Now I am in Virginia!

I don't think I can quite do NC this trip, but WILL be back out east some day!

Thanks for making Find A Grave so enjoyable (Yikes, I have encountered a few grinches!) and for all the Crouse family memorials...oh, that is one huge family!

Thank you Rich for the additional information from the death certificate and dates. It amazes me how some of the dates on a monument can be so far off! But it is far more common than one would think. Also, thanks for all the work you do honoring those that came before us.
