Although an Asheville native, my genealogical bases are Yancey, Mitchell and Iredell Counties. Surnames closely related to me are Vickery, Morrison, Bradshaw, Stevenson, Gibson and Bagwell. |
I will never create a grave for anyone about whom I know nothing; if I do not have any information other than two dates I leave creation of the memorial to someone who hopefully does have it. These people deserve more on their memorials than just dates, no matter how large the cemetery!
Those who transcribe whole cemeteries without even bothering to use dates, just to boost their numbers, should be banned from the site, in my opinion. With the resources of the Internet now available, there is no excuse for such.
However, I am happy to transfer graves of any persons who are not related to me, to anyone who is related to the deceased. That said, please do not abuse this. Thanks.
PLEASE NOTE: We can NOT link parents to children! That is, we have to link children UP to parents, not link parents DOWN to children. It's just the way the site works. Please do not contact me about adding children to the parents' graves. I can't. Instead - contact the creators of the chidren's graves and ask them to link the kids UP to the parents - it is the only way to do this.
Kindly refrain from post death certs on my memorials. Photos are great, however.

|sheilah spencer||Lockie Ellender Gouge - Crowder|
Mr. Mark Lawson:
Could you please correct her(Lockie's)mother's name - it was Esther Lette (Winters) Gouge, who was born in 1852 and died in 1889. Her(Esther Lette Winters - Gouge)children with Thomas Clingman Gouge were Mollie Jane, Romulus M., Maggie, Alonzo Avery, and Lillington - all were full blood siblings to Lockie Ellender Gouge. Esther Letter Winters was Thomas Clingman Gouges first wife. I hope that this helps. But, the woman you have as my Great Grandmother's mother isn't any relation to Lockie Ellender Gouge-Crowder. Thanks. Sheilah Spencer - Lockie's daughter, Mollie Jane Crowder was my maternal Grandmother.

Hi Mark, while trying to validate my records on Lucinda Briggs Byrd Bennett I found your findagrave memorial on Golder as being her son. It appears his parents included a different William Bennett and Sarah from the 1860 census. What do you think of this?

|Lynne Slagle||Arthur Bascomb Young|
Dear Mr. Lawson, I have noticed an error on the posting for Arthur Bascombe Young. His paternal grandparents were Greenberry Young and Elizabeth McKinney. Is it possible for you to make this correction? Much appreciated.
|Gwen Bodford||John Orlando Griffith Cemetery|
I had added John O. and Sarah Catherine Higgins Griffith on the John O. Griffith Cemetery when I realized you had added them on the John Orlando Griffith Cemetery. I have deleted their names but still have “Cemetery note and descriptions:”
How can I transfer or combine these cemeteries?
Best wishes for a wonderful Holiday. Will be kinda sad for me since my husband is not with me anymore.
|Michael Young||Arthur Bascomb Young|
Hello Mr. Lawson
The paternal grandparents of Arthur Bascomb Young who is buried in the Slagle Cemetery in Mitchell County were Greenberry Young and Elizabeth McKinney and not Wesley Young. Could I please have this info corrected? Thanks for creating the memorial for Arthur and taking pictures of his grave as I did not know the location of it
prior to coming on this site.
