My interest in genealogy began 64 years ago when I followed my mother's and grandmother's conversations as they traced relationships of their friends and family. |
My memorials are family members, then relatives of relatives. My childhood piano teacher and other early settlers, friends of my parents and grandparents were next. Being from a small Nebraska town, this can be quite involved. But interesting. Very interesting.
As a Find A Grave photo volunteer for Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery, I sometimes stumble - literally - over a neglected or forgotten grave marker. I add information or create memorials for the lives I discover in this way.

Thank you for photographing the area where she was interred. As I suspected, the grave is unmarked.

Thanks Linda. Your two entries were so timely. One of my cousins had gone to Lone Fir and had been unable to find any record for Mae Elizabeth and Winning V even tho we had news clippings about their burials. I tried to enter the memorial numbers to do the links myself but got a message they had expired or something like that. That's why I messaged you. Thanks again. Now I have to create an entry for William Nathan's second wife who is my actual grandmother. FindaGrave sure is helpful when tracking down ancestors! Bob

I just edited the spelling of two recent last name entries you created for Elizabeth Vallindigham and Winning Vallandigham at Lone Fir Cemetery in Portland. Elizabeth, also known as Mae Elizabeth Stocker Vallandigham was my grandfather William Nathan Vallandigham's first wife. Winning was one of their thee sons. The first son was William S. Vallandigham. He is on FindaGrave in the Olney Cemetary in Pendleton, Oregon, where Mae grew up and met William Nathan. Born and died in 1902. William Nathan V. (died 1931) is buried with his father James Winning Vallandigham and his brother Andrew Ellis V. in the Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery, Santa Rosa, California. They are all in FindaGrave. I tried but could not link these entries together using the Memorial numbers. Maybe you can cure this for us. Thanks. Robert V. Vallandigham, Jr. Sausalito, CA firstname.lastname@example.org
You are welcome. Yes, I have. I photographed the entire "new section" yesterday until my camera battery ran down. I missed getting pictures of the last 4.

You are welcome.
|Linda||RE: Mills Link|
I found Jane A. Severson on Family Search which lists her husband as Oscar E. Severson, not Stephen. I cannot locate Find A Grave for Jane, Stephen/Oscar or Jane's son Wilbur C. Ellis. I notice Martin Burrell has not added nor corrected any items on the John Mills page. I have spent a lot of time on this and am not a descendant, so I plan to move on to my family. I do appreciate all your efforts on this project.

|Tom Albright||H. Scroeder Lone Fir|
Hello! I'm going to delete the photo request for Mr. Schroeder for a few reasons. The first, I thought he may have been the husband of Lottie McMillan Schroeder, but I don't think that's the case as she's buried next to another H. Schroeder. Thank you, anyway!
|Tom Albright||Gertrude McMillan|
Hello! I was just wondering as you're going to Lone Fir to photograph Gertie's headstone (thank you in advance!), I'm wondering if there's a Mary McMillan buried near her or her father H. F. McMillan, and or a Vivia Will nearby. Thanks for all your help!
