Hi Martha
I'm looking at William Schneider 42152906, you are credited with the entry. He was my great grandfather, died before I was born, but are you connected to him?

Is there any way to get the caretaker to make new markers for those broken tomb stones? I know there are grants, etc.

Thank you
Thank you so much for the transfer of my great grandmother to me. And especially for creating her memorial so far away it means so much.

John Henry Beavers
I guess you heard there was a mix up on John Beavers. The John Beavers that you added the info to in Columbian Pioneer Cemetery is the wrong John Beavers. Believe it or not there were two John Beavers who were born one year apart and then died in the same year of 1944!! The John Beavers in Columbian died in Cougar, WA. The John Beavers you added all the info to is buried in Warren, OR by his wife Adelia. The John in Columbian is buried by his wife Maude in Columbian.
I sent you a bunch of edits on the John you made the page for. I sent you links to his parent's who are buried in Nebraska and dates and things. I guess you know about the new edit system where you have to go onto your profile page and click on the edit tab at the top of the page to see if you have any edits, right?
All that info you added to the page you made for John is for the other John and needs to be taken off of the page you made, sorry to say. Don't you hate that when you do something and it turns out to be all wrong or something messes it up and you have to do it all over again? Groan.

John Beavers
Thank you for all your amazing work on the Historic Columbian Cemetery!

I followed up on the confusion over John Beavers, and I found two John Beavers in Portland in the 1940 census. One was a year older than the other and one was a widower living with his daughter (he was born in Indiana, not MO).

Apparently, they both died in 1944. Our records give a date for burial or death in Sept. of 1944 for the John Beavers at HCC. In addition, based on O. Maude Bevers obituary, I would say that this is the John Beavers who was married to Maude, not Adelia. Maude and John are buried next to each other in the Resurvey area of the cemetery.

Best, Elizabeth
