Please use the new EDIT system to submit factual updates & family links

I do NOT require a source of information before processing edit request's. As long as the information is reasonably correct, your edit will be processed. As a memorial manager our duty is to either accept an edit request or decline it. It is NOT our place to hold an edit request hostage while waiting for you to explain your sources. Which frankly, we are NOT supposed to do anyway, although some members do. Unlike other members on this site, I will not turn away your edit request on the basis of whether or not I can contact you. Any form of holding an edit hostage or denying one the right to provide a correction to a memorial is WRONG! I would suggest that if you run into a member who requires sources, send your edit request directly to Don't even waste your time with those who hold edit requests hostage.

I only transfer memorials that fall within Find a Grave's four generation guidelines. There is an abundance of information (including family links) that can be sumbitted for correction on ANY memorial that exists on this site. It doesn't even matter if the memorial is maintained by an inactive member or one who is deceased. All edits that pass the 21 day mark, are automatically processed by the FaG admins. Additionally FaG also maintains a lot of memorials that were created by inactive or deceased contributors. Edits submitted on these memorials are generally processed in less than 24 hours! A memorial does NOT need to be transferred in order to get edits/corrections or family links done.

Simply having someone in your family tree is NOT grounds for a transfer request.

The goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal is to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it.

Any non-direct relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred.

Richard Harvey
Transfer of my ancestor
Hello Mr. Easley,

My name is Richard Harvey. This message is being sent to request transfer of Ebenezer Carroll Elliott, Find A Grave Memorial # 19802596 to my custody and stewardship. I am the son of Lee O. Harvey, son of Matthew Cornelius Harvey, son of Mary Frances Elliott and W. S. Harvey. Mary Frances Elliott Harvey is a daughter of E.C.Elliott. As you can see, I am a 4th generation direct descendant of this man. I have been actively involved in the study of family history for over 30 yrs and would consider it a great honor to take up maintenance of this wonderful memorial.

Thanks very much,

Richard Harvey

RE: memorial in wrong cemetery
Thanks for your message.

I am trying to verify where Maggie Garrett is actually buried. Her death certificate states that it is East End Cemetery which is also known as Walker. That is where I placed her. I see the picture of the tombstone in Camptown but pictures can also get put into the wrong place too. I have someone who knows Camptown well who will search for Maggie's stone there when weather permits.
