Bio and Links
I have been doing genealogy for over 30 years, my main interests are my ancestors in the Shaffer, LeBroke, McIntosh, Rister, Wadsworth, Cecil, Reeves lines. I got most of my material from the LDS Church films and many a trip to the DAR Library in Washington DC. I have visited many cemeteries although I have found many mistakes in their inscriptions. I welcome any mistakes that you find and gladly correct them.Happy Hunting!

Anne Elizabeth Perrin
Hi Carol,
My wife is the G G Granddaughter of Anne Perrin. Her Great Grandfather was Samuel A. Phillips, son of Thomas, Anne's first husband. Samuel and his wife Martha moved to Oklahoma and there youngest son was Jesse Phillips, his son, David Phillips is my wife's father. I see you posted a picture of Anne Perrin, we appreciate it. Also, just a bit of history, Anne's first husband Thomas Phillips was shot and killed in an argument in the next county over from Collin County, Tx. Took me years to find the story. Finally, I was wondering how, or if you are a descendant of Anne.

Thank you for your time.

Jacob Shaver Last Will & Testament 1807
I recently acquired an old copy of Jacob Shaver's last will & testament dated "this twelfth day of March one thousand eight hundred seven" (1807). It begins the same as the 1813 will, until he gets to the part of naming the heirs. He "bequeaths to Eve by beloved wife the third part of my estate...." He mentions his sons Philip and Samuel along with his "youngest daughter Eve".

The bottom of the will has "at a court held for the County of Shenandoah on Monday the 12th day of October 1807 this last will & testament of Jacob Shaver Deceased was exhibited to the court and proved by the oaths of George Landes & Frederick Sower......"

Does anyone know if Catharina's middle name, or any of the daughters middle name was Eve?

RE: Jacob Shaffer, Jr
Jacob is my 6X Great Grandfather. His son Jacob is my 5x Great Grandfather. I have many of the original papers from the Garrett Snuff fortune. As you know, extensive research was done on the lawyer's part, and Jacob Jr is listed in the papers as being buried at Solomon's Lutheran Church. Just thought I'd let you know. Also, Do you know for a fact that Jacob's (the III) mother is Catherine DeLaPlank? That is not clear in all of the Garrett Papers.
Thanks so much!
Patricia

RE: Newton-Pruitt
Carol,
I respect your views but I decline to change the memorial. This is my daughter-in-law's ancestor. Her aunt Betty Davis Arrant compiled family genealogies prior to her death. One of the granddaughters is Elra Naomi McCarty who is named after Maggie. Two of Maggie Pruitt's children, Ben and Addie, married first cousins of my father. I had seen the 1850 census but.....

The Pruitts lived at Alvarado after arriving in Texas and later moved to Duffau where they lived near my father and his parents. Later moved to Hico. I have never seen anything aside from the 1850 census giving the name Dolly. And her brother buried at McGirk as you know had numerous children and I have yet to see anything of a Dorothy or Dolly. The death records of Maggie's children either give the name Margaret or Maggie. One f my siblings was given that first name. Too much evidence that her name is Elra starting back with Betty's papers. (One of the daughters is Maggie Elra Pruitt Davis-Rainwater.
Respectfully,

Bill McCarty. Family researcher for over 40 years

Catharina Delaplanck Shaffer
Carol,
Want to require about the list of children for Catharina and Jacob Shaffer; on her find a grave site, it lists Frederick 1755-1855 and John 1755-1847...then Daniel.
I found John George "Frederick" Shaffer in our linage, born 1755, married to Barbara Fry; but if John was born June 10, 1755...and Frederick in Dec. of 1755 (according to the site)then it would make John firstborn and too close for comfort in the birthing process. Any thoughts?
Also, did you receive the Loeber papers on Shaffer?
Thanks,
Peggy

Josephus Oliver Shaffer
Carol,
I tried to send you a message today, after receiving your reply; but it did not allow me to send it. Thanks for your information, I will have to go into my site and reconfigure the marriages.
I see that you had an uncle Oliver J. Shaffer in your past...so I am going to ask if you have any information on my great grandfather. He was from Indiana 1860-61 to 1940-41; born in Clinton county, and died in Howard county. Married twice, once to Laura Adeline Robertson..and then to Winnifred June McGuire. Daughters were Alpha L. Shaffer/Spaulding, and Icil Mae Shaffer/Shafer. His name was Josephus (as far as I know) but his obit said Oliver J. Shaffer. He lived in Kokomo, IN for the majority of his life...where he died.
Josephus was raised by an aunt Barbara Shaffer Witt (daughter of Henry F. Shaffer). Henry Shaffer's brother Phillip Rinker Shaffer had a son Enoch W Shaffer, who had a daughter Dinora Lidora Shaffer...and she was in Josephus' obit as a half sister. So I have learned not to assume anything in genealogy...but do you have any information on Henry or Phillip Shaffer's family secrets..Josephus has no paper trail that I can find. My grandmother was his daughter Alpha L. Shaffer/Spaulding, and my mother was Ethelda May Spaulding/Thomason. I would like to continue the Shaffer tree on my line, but cannot find Josephus parents. Thank you for all your help.

Do you still live near Willows? Mom and I were in Glenn county on an almond farm, between Chico and Orland...and close to Willows. Moved back to WA almost two years ago, and mom died one week later at 92. Thanks again
