I've been a member for nearly 6 years. Below happened about 5 years ago & is the reason I'm not fully active with FAG. I do try to help with requests as I believe family history is important. Too many markers are already gone, undecipherable or nearly unreadable. It's a shame some businesses have to abuse a site like this.|
I no longer take pictures of entire cemeteries & post the pictures.
The reason for my change is when I asked for a transfer of a relative to me, copied directly from the email I received; "...but an employee for the cemeteries. We use the site to send family members to for research so we want to make sure the records (Findagrave's) correspond with ours." Not only did many of the "cemetery maintained pages" have errors in their postings, they are using Findagrave.com for business purposes. They did not care if they had the right information or not, just as long as "their" information matched what they posted on Findagrave.
They told me to post a flower to their pages with the different info & my email address for relatives to contact me. They also explained how I could connect relatives to theirs, as if I didn't already know how. So nice of them! They did not want the correct information, only what matched paperwork or grave marker they had.
I could not find a way to contact FAG. After several attempts to do so with no avail, I deleted 100's of records many of which also had other information.
So, now I just do specific requests.
My family lines include: Marchand, Moran, Clark, Dougall, Beier, Hansen, Mickelson, Heinrich, Featherstone, Treblecock, and many more.

First of all, thanks for all the work and time that you have spent. James Martin Wales is one of my ancestors and I was wondering if you would allow me to add the picture that you took of his headstone to my ancestry page. I would be glad to give you credit for the photo. Thanks Debbie email@example.com

I was wondering if you have a clearer photo. I can not read the birth date. The reason I am asking is that I have seen the record that says she was married in 1878. Thank you for your help. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org

Your bio's confusing. But I'm so glad you didn't leave. You take excellent pics. You also know to post double stones on both named on the stone. I do appreciate it.
I've ran into a few jerks myself...which is why I have everything blocked. Time & time again I've been so tempted to walk away. But then I remember who I did this for in the first place...the dead & the next generation.
Keep your chin up. And have a great weekend. :)
