One of my pet peeves is duplicate memorials. Duplicates happen, I've make them myself, it's the ones that are deliberately made that gets me. If the memorial already exist, then ask for a transfer, don't create a new one so it's in your name. |
Please query FAG site thoroughly before adding memorials, this will help stop duplicate memorials. If there is a duplicate memorial located the one created first remains and all others are to be deleted or merged. If memorials are created on the same date, then the sequence of the memorial number is a good deciding factor on which one remains.
Also, the last married name is the one that is listed, not all of the married names in the last name box. Doing this, you can not search correctly. List the complete full name in the bio area.
My Aunt and I started researching our Ghent family and I came across Find A Grave in our ancestry searches. I was so impressed with the site that I started going to cemeteries and local libraries in search of information.
Find A Grave is a great resource and has a lot of wonderful historical information.
My goal is to be able to locate and provide as much information on each of our Ghent family members that I can find. I have found more than one set of Ghent's in our area and I am trying to see if they connect, so linking them has been a great tool.
In my many cross-eyed searches in reading small print, very old and blurry microfilm at the library, I try to keep and eye out for information on deaths, marriages, births, etc...on other local citizens and add those in hopes to help others with their genealogy endeavors.
I have received a lot of help from other members of Find A Grave and it's very much appreciated.
Other Family Searches: Clemmer, Johnson, Stokes, Catoe, Waters, Sanders, Godfrey, Broome, Neal, Roach, Dunlap, Taylor, Sistare, Starnes, Rowell
NOTE: ALL OBITUARIES I POST TO MEMORIALS, STATE THE NAME OF THE NEWSPAPER AND THE DATE THE OBITUARY WAS PUBLISHED.
Like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one
May I add a death certificate to a person's memorial page?
Death certificates MAY BE ADDED via the "Add a photo" button on the memorial page. NOTE: Death certificates do not necessarily contain completely accurate information about the deceased. There are often errors regarding the final burial location (as well as other data).
Can I add an obituary to my interment listing?
You should not copy obituary notices from newspapers (or from funeral home notices or web sites) to an individual's memorial record unless you have permission from the newspaper to do so or you are the author of the obituary. SOME OBITUARIES THAT WERE PUBLISHED IN 1922 OR EARLIER ARE NOW IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN. In general, obituaries in newspapers are submitted by the family with assistance from the funeral home. IF THE OBITUARY IS ADDED TO THE MEMORIAL RECORD, IT SHOULD LIST THE NEWSPAPER AND DATE THE OBIT WAS PRINTED for example "Published in the Hattiesburg American, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Internet Edition, April 11, 2007". Please do not include the names of living or surviving relatives in the biography, unless you have their permission. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO COPY AN OBITUARY TO A MEMORIAL, YOU MAY PUT A NOTE STATING THE NAME OF THE NEWSPAPER AND THE DATE THE OBITUARY WAS PUBLISHED.

|Martha Brinkley Berry||RE: John Mittag|
Thanks, Cathie! I have really been burning the midnight oil on the Mittag and McKenna families! Trying to link up siblings and families on Find A Grave. You and I had met a crossed of months back on Newspapers.com and then I contacted you thru Ancestry.
If you have anything info on William McKenna Mittag, I have some real "holes" in his story:) especially his date and place of death. He is my sons' direct ancestor thru their father. Still hoping to hear from your friend who is a descendant!

|William Ghent||Melita Sistare|
I've update Melita Sistare memorial with full name and linked to father but could not find Dora Crenshaw memorial. Did some research . Looks like she died before 1920. She would have been the mother of Lewis Perry as well as Melita and infant Faris. Also found another son Yates Alexander Stogner Buried at Union UMC Church. He was the son of Barkley and Fonnie Carnes per death certificate. I send message to contributor to add the parents.
I appreciate the research you've done on the Ghent line. I still have many unanswered question . Still hope we can get together to compare notes. Maybe summer time. Let me know if there will be another reunion.
Thank you for seeing my error. Keep up the good work. G agee

What is the connection to your family? You posted my momma and her late husbands marker. The name referenced in your bio seems familiar. But distant. My family, pardue is from lancaster, kershaw areas. Was nice to find momma...thank you.
|Robert A. Young, Jr.||Gibson|
You posted a photo for the grave of Edward Gibson at Memorial Park. Would you have any connections with his family? I have a WWII letter that an Edward Gibson wrote to my mother in Lancaster 15 Oct 1943 and wanted to see if it might be this same guy.
