I have been infatuated with cemeteries since I was a little girl, so it makes sense that I would be drawn to genealogy as an adult. I am very fortunate that my job takes me all over the place so that I can visit the final resting place of generations of my relatives. It also allows me to take photos or do transcriptions in various cemeteries throughout the country even if I do not personally have family members buried there.

Doing cemetery transcriptions is a labor of love. It requires a lot of hard work and sweat, and sometimes a lot of bug repellent, but I think it's one of the greatest hobbies around. I feel it is very important to document the final resting place of those gone before us so that others can know where their family members are buried. It is also important to preserve some of the older cemeteries before all is lost due to climate and/or lack of upkeep.

I am trying to obtain death certificates for those buried in the following Houston County, Alabama Cemeteries - Ramah, Cottonwood City, and Union Hill. I have hundreds of death certificates for those buried in these cemeteries as well as other cemeteries in Houston County (if I happen to stumble upon them as I am looking through the microfilm.) I am slowly getting them loaded onto their FindAGrave memorials. If I have a note on a memorial about a cause of death, that means I have the death certificate. Send me an "edit" and I will be happy to load the cert to the memorial right away so that you can have access to it.

Please use the Suggest a Correction link under the "Edit" tab to request corrections, updates, transfers, etc. I am always willing to transfer non-family members, but please use the Suggest a Correction link.

RE: 54012478 Andrew Jackson Schreiber
I just try to link families and use the same criteria to make my decisions. They are not family just linked them since both are on the headstone.

I believe he may have been the husband of Bessie (maiden name Stout) Schreiber who died 1910 in MO.

Do you have records that could answer my question?

Thanks

Urilla J Hocker
Hi and thank you for what you are doing. This is a great quest you are undertaking and I greatly appreciate your work. Also to all the photographers who have spent time taking these photos of the stones.
I notice that on Urilla's stone the death date is 1980 and a typo on the report is 1890. Just thought I would call your attention to that. Also, she was known to all family and friends in Monte Vista as "Babe". She was married to Arthur R. Hocker, son of Henry Arthur Hocker who was son of John Benjamin Hocker buried up at Rock Creek. My great grandfather, William E. Hocker was "Hank's" brother. That would make my grandfather Clarence B Hocker and Arthur R. Hocker cousins, right? ;) Anyway, just some information for you if wanted.

RE: Matilda Harper
Judi,

I got the death record from the book "Cemeteries of Marion County, Iowa". If this book is incorrect then let me know and I will correct Matilda's record.

photos
I am a Troup-Troupe and the ones you have are family
I have add some pictures of the ones I have and given credit to the person owning them.
I would like to care for the ones in my tree and wondered how many I may care for and add their information.

RE: Maggie Young
Hi Judi,

You are welcome for the photos. I don't think you entered the wrong plot number. Find A Grave has 5 Margaret (or a variation) Young's listed at Crown Hill. There are probably more including the Margaret in Block 18 who must have similar dates as your Maggie and could be why you were given the wrong plot location.

But no worries, it was my pleasure taking the photos as I do love wandering Crown Hill.

Maggie Young
Hi Judi,

This is interesting, I was at Crown Hill taking pictures today. First I went to Alex Young's location and guess what I found Maggie next to him. I sent you an edit for her location. So out of curiosity I went to Block 18 looking for Marguerite Young. There isn't a marker for her but I didn't expect one as 18 has been pretty well photographed. So who is this Marguerite and did the dates you have for Maggie match with Marguerites? ah another mystery.
Anyway I will get the photos of Alex and Maggie's gravestones added for you.
