I have been into genealogy since 1979. I co-authored the Morgan County Cemetery books in the 1980's. I have published a book on my Compton family and my Lynn family. Also other publications for the Morgan County Genealogical Society. |
I have been married for 57 years. We have two children and five grandchildren living and one that died at age two years and a precious 4-year old great-grandson and a two-year old great-granddaughter and a 6-month old great-granddaughter.
I enjoy scrapbooking, cemeteries and photography. If I have entered incorrect information or you have something to add to a memorial, please let me know via the SAC on the memorial. I will be glad to transfer memorials to a member according to FindAGrave guidelines. Send your requests via the SAC on the memorial you want transferred; otherwise I will not transfer.
I love FindAGrave. It is a great way to honor those that are no longer with us and preserve history for future generations.
Please visit baby Zack's memorial and leave him a flower. I miss him so much.

I grew up in Texas but I am currently living in Nashville, Tennessee for graduate school. My dad's mother, Louise Griffin-Knight, was very scholastically involved and enjoyed history. She traced back much of her mother's family lineage during her life. Louise Griffin-Knight, died when I was one or two but her only child, my dad, has many of her files and family research. I too have become interested in genealogy and about a year ago I went through boxes of my grandmother's research when I was back home in Texas.
Interestingly, I made a trip to Auburn, Alabama this weekend and remembered from a lot of Louise Griffin-Knight's files that she spent a lot of time writing letters and researching to find information on her mother's father and his family. Although I don't know much about any of these people, I know my grandmother's mother was Annie Beulah Simpson-Griffin from Russellville, Alabama and she had five children with Thomas Levi Simpson. Thomas Levi Simpson was married prior to marrying Annie's mother and they had six children together from what I understand.
Today I stopped in Falkville at the city cemetery on my way back home to Nashville after my trip to Auburn and found Thomas Levi Simpson's grave. I think my grandmother would have been pleased. I am back in Nashville now and just learned that Thomas Levi Simpson's parent's were buried around that area as well. I would appreciate any information/stories on Thomas, his first wife Susan Jane Anderson or second wife Mary Ann Peerson and any of the 11(i believe) total siblings.
I am so grateful I stumbled upon some of the information at the findagrave website as I was passing through today. Also, I think my great grandmother, Annie, might be the younger female in the picture with Thomas, presumably his wife and five of their kids. I find all of this fascinating and would love to hear about any information you might be able to share. Thank you.

You are welcome. The Wiggins/Orr families are HUGE, and you cannot trust the info on ancestry.com as fact...So I did a lot of digging :-)
|Barbara Parks||RE: John Burl Sammons|
thanks so much for bringing that to my attention, I have fixed it and attached the photo to the correct memorial
|Ray and Marty||Sarah Briscoe Memorial|
I have just posted a pic of Sarah's stone #43938264. It includes info for her and her husband Thomas Briscoe. In light of this pic you may want to edit the bio info on the memorial page. Get back with me if you need additional info.

There is another cemetery in Lawrence County near the old airport. The Livingstons are buried there, her mother and father, they have markers but she does not. This location makes more sense than the one at Massey.

Where did you get this obituary info? My great grandmother is Edna Wilson that is listed in this obituary as his daughter but she was born in 1906 and according to the picture of his tombstone, he was born in 1909. So this couldn't be her father? Just trying to find out a little more about my great grandmother's side of the family.

thanks so much for the transfer
|Kenneth Blagburn||James Quentin Houser|
You have created two memorials for James Quentin Houser in the Somerville Church of God Cemetery.
Memorial# 57801768 and Memorial# 57801761. One has the obit and the other does not. These are duplicate memorials. Could you please consider removing the one without the obit. Thank you for all you do.
|Richard Ferguson||John Ferguson|
Thank you so very much for transfering the John Ferguson Memorial. It means a lot to me.
