Bio and Links
Bio Photo We are David & Effie. We were born and raised in upstate South Carolina. I found Find A Grave in 2009 and now David has joined me in a search for our "lost" family members. We sincerely hope that along the way our contributions to this site will help others find theirs.

We wish to thank those who have made memorials for our family members and those who have transfered management of them to us. We especially want to thank those who have made the corrections we requested, as correct and complete data is the key to accomplishing our goals.

Our primary sources of information for our memorials, other than direct knowledge of burial, are grave marker photos and obituaries. We use these sources as backup for our entries, as we DO NOT make any without proof of burial location.

Our motto is... to err is human, and to correct is necessary. Please contact us if you find an error on our memorials or if you have missing information that we can add to make an appealing and honorable memorial. We will gladly correct any errors on our entries, make additions, add links or transfer memorials if they are not related to us. (please use the EDIT tab and make a suggestion option on the memorial for any request.)

We understand that a photo says more than a thousand words, and is a very important part of family research. It is our pleasure to offer our photos for personal genealogical purposes. You may re-post on Find A Grave if you will have the courtesy to give us credit in the caption of the photo. Otherwise, DO NOT RE-POST!

Everyone is welcome to visit and leave a flower for our immediate family members listed below or any of our memorials and once again, we wish to thank all of our Find A Grave friends who have done a wonderful job in helping preserve our heritage and making this a wonderful site.

Inquiry for Grave Marker/Information
Hello,

I am working on genealogy for my maternal line and have been stumped for awhile about my great grandfather. His name was Claud Henson and the only information I've been able to find so far about his family is that his father was John Henson and his mother was Lillie Henson (as listed on his death certificate). It said they were born in NC and were buried in Oak Grove Cemetery. You can't imagine how many Oak Grove Cemeteries there are in NC and SC. :-)

So I found your contributions for JP Henson and Lillie Smith Henson for Oak Grove Cemetery in Spartanburg and was hoping that maybe you might be able to locate one for Claud Lee Henson, born on July 1, 1884 in SC and died on March 7, 1884 in SC. He was supposed to be buried in Oak Grove as well. He was married to Francis Leila Forrester if that helps.

I appreciate any assistance you can provide with this.

Best regards,
Lisa

I had never seen this Find A Grave record until our friend, Doc Colville and Nancy's husband died last week. He will soon be joining her and life in peace in death as he did in life. With his Nance. Thank you for posting this record. We have so many happy memories of our life-long friendship with this couple and I am glad their name is listed for other searchers to find them. Thank you for the work you do. Ken and Shirley McKenzie.

Would you please be so kind and remove this memorial from this Bennett Cemetery. This is my family cemetery on m mother's side of the family. I went there on Saturday (8-1-205) to double check and he is not buried there. There is another cemetery that is known as Bennett Grove Cemetery. No sure who this person is. Thanking you in advance.

Old Coward Cemetery
David~Effie, In an effort to correct memorials that were wrongly combined with Upper Coward Cemetery (NC, Jackson Co., Cowarts) when "also known as Coward Cemetery" was added, I have created a page/location for Old Coward Cemetery.
If you wish, change the burial location for the following memorials to: Old Coward Cemetery. (Beware: Copy & Save Pictures, since they sometimes disappear with transfer or edit.

I would like to personally thank you for your work with Find A Grave. It is no longer possible for me to visit cemeteries. When I started my genealogy journey back in the80's I frequented many cemeteries. Now thanks to you and other Find A Grave friends I can visit them that way. May God richly bless you for helping others like me. It means so very much to be able to visit the graves of our extended families. I am still working hard on my family genealogy on Ancestry and Family TreeMaker and thank you for allowing me to get copies of my extended family markers.

PS May you be able to keep helping others through your work with Find A Grave for many years to come. It is truly a blessing to so many people.

Coward Cemeteries Caney Fork NC
FYI: On F-A-G, there should be 4 Coward Cemeteries on Caney Fork: Coward, Old Coward, Upper Coward (2 ducks), and Lower Coward. Someone has combined the first 3, and thrown in some Lower Coward burials under the name "Coward (also known as Upper Coward) as if they were one cemetery. Lower Coward entries still seem to be OK.
