CORAL JUNE COTTEN
Happy New Year 2017, Chad! Still working on genealogy and especially on the COTTEN line, mostly updating newer family members.

Came across the entry for Coral June Cotten, daughter of Chris Cotten & Dorothy Hawkins. You have no birth year for her and of course "death" date is unknown. She is very, very much alive, but I don't know if you can delete that "unknown" or not. Coral June was born in 1945.

Just thought I would give you the information. Coral June is listed as Memorial #89760794 and record was created May 8, 2012.

Take care and may we have successful searches this year.

(((blush!))))
I've never had such a sweet reaction. Please tell Darryl it is all in a day's volunteer work, but I knew this one was extra special. Happy New Year to you, too, and to your cute little family!

Tell Darryl to let Ruben know that I was the one who put him in contact. Ruben took care of my mother's cremation (Rosella Waters) in Feb. of 2015. Her ashes are interred at Inglewood.

Let me know how it goes, and if Darryl and his siblings decide to order a headstone, I will be happy to photograph it for him after it is set. If he ever comes down for a visit, he can contact me through this website, and I will take him to her grave. I live close by.

Take care,

B.J.

RE: Sheryl Hughes
Hello Chad! I have been in touch with Sally (WMP Vols) via email. She told me about Darryl and his little twin sister. My heart ached for him, a man trying to find his dear little sister's burial place after all these years. I am glad we were able to help him.

The contact person to find out about purchasing a headstone is Ruben Suarez, 310/245-7307.

Happy New Year! Have a safe one!

RE: Mahalia
Hello, sorry for the delay. I wanted to confirm with Rahdiya who you were. Yes, you are correct about my Great grandmother. I did find that the date of birth date on her tombstone is different than her DOB on the Death certificate and I have not been doing any recent searches. Feel free to give me a call if you have questions.

RE: Pictures
I sent a request to Find A Grave to fix them. It usually takes about a week.

Pictures
I just tried out using Microsoft Paint to fix the problem and it did so. The process is to put the photo on your computer. (At this point I opened the photo is Microsoft Office Picture and could see it as it truly is rotated on its side) It of course looked fine on my desktop because my computer is reading the hidden data. But opening it in Office showed me what was really there. Then I opened the picture in Paint. Cropped it slightly and resaved. Now I open it in Office and is shows right side up. Hope this helps. You will run into this from time to time when uploading pictures. It is pretty frustrating. Find A Grave is working on a recoding for the site that I have hopes will fix this issue once and for all. We will have to wait and see though.

Thank you for the photos. I have sent a request to the photo@email to fix the orientation. This happens when you take pictures with your phone and or your camera uses a tag in the picture data to tell a program how to display the picture rather than actually turning the picture. In most cases this can be fixed by saving the picture to your computer. Doing a small crop and then saving again. Most programs for doing this will resave the picture in its current display rather than using the embedded data. One program that does not fix the problem is Microsoft Office Picture manager. But programs like Paint (I think), IrfanView, Gimp and Inkscape all save correctly.

RE: AHOY!
Hi Chad - it's been almost a year since I last heard from you - a family will keep one busy! All is well here, but I'm not doing much genealogy these days, just maintaining my Volga German memorials and Seabees. I've gone back to knitting and am making a sweater for my daughter. I'm inventing the pattern as I go = she found a pine tree stitch really liked. It's time to slow down a bit and knitting will do that. Have a wonderful holiday season = maybe we'll have lots of snow this year. Judi
