James Babcock
My name is Michael Zikuski, son of Glenna Mae (Shoemaker) Zikuski, who is the daughter of
Glen Shoemaker and Elsie ( Cameron ) Shoemaker. Elsie was the daughter of Frank C. Cameron and Hattie M. (Babcock) Cameron. Hattie was the daughter of Pvt. Daniel Johnson Babcock and Amanda M. (Eiklor) Babcock.
I can follow in a straight lineage from son to father to father to father till I reach James Babcock jr. b.1612 in Wivenhoe, Essex England, d. 1679 Portsmouth, RI. He was married to #1 -Sarah Brown b. 1612 d. 1665 and b#2 - Elizabeth March.
I have every birthdate and place of birth and date and place of death along with siblings for each generation and also wife's info along with parents and siblings but it would be to long to write here. I am the 9th gr-grandson of James Babcock and his first wife Sarah Brown Babcock and am very interested in meeting others that belong to the Babcock Clan, yes I said clan. Google it.
I am going to continue tracing down the Babcock lineage because I have many photos of my gr-grandmother's family including her two brothers and their sons. I am sure if they don't already know, they would welcome all I can share and best of all, most live in our are from the same area as myself.
Thank you,
Michael Zikuski
Binghamton, N.Y.

ps. I see on your site you have a father and mothers name for James jr. I would love to see the documentation of this information

Ruth Howell Parshall
I see you have a picture here that is supposed to be Ruth Howell Parshall. Can you verify this? Ruth died in 1808 and as I understand it, the first permanent photograph was in 1826. Is this from a painting?

RE: Moses Courtright
I have not seen the Moses Pallen Courtright with a Simeon as a child. He is my g grandfather's youngest brother. He lived in Iowa near a sister Sarah Jane Courtright Walkingshaw who married William Walkinshaw in Oklahoma and they then moved back to Iowa.

Moses never remarried. He worked construction.

Richard Courtright and Hannah Marie Slater Courtright were the parents.

Richard is the only surviving child of Joseph Richard Courtright and Lydia Klinetop Courtright.

Joseph died soon after migrating his family to Lee Co, IL. A LOT of trees want to make this Joseph the Joseph that married a Burket lady in IL, and they want him to live till the 1870's. That Joseph is another Joseph. He is Joseph Rhodes Cortright and he married Elizabeth Jane aka Jennie Burkett, dau of John Burkett and Mary aka Molly Fleck.

Joseph Rhodes Cortright is the son of Isaac Cortright and Mary Pollock Courtright. Isaac is the brother of my Joseph Cortright that married Lydia Klinetob.

Joseph Rhodes was b in 1841 and named for my Joseph.

I have 2 Simeons in my Courtright database, one spelled Cortright and the other Courtright. But neither one of them seem to be the one you have. I do not have information on any Courtrights in Michigan. My lines went thru NY, NJ, PA, IL, KS, OK, I do have some of the lines that went thru NY, NJ, OH, IL, but it was to mainly keep the different lines separately.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely

Moses Courtright
Moses is the son of Richard and Hannah Slater Courtright. He died in 1977. You have Simeon as a child of his, but Simeon was born in the 1700s so you are incorrect. Please, if you will, disconnect the connection. His two children were by Rose Dillman.

I am still interested in your connection.

Sincerely

RE: I am also a Allen/Courtright descendant
How Are you connected to Moses Courtright?

I know he had two children, if it is thru his line as a descendant. I have a lot of information on his ancestry. I come thru Moses's brother Charles Henry Courtright and Bessie Little Courtright.

You are welcome to use my email, catkinson54@msn.com.

Look forward to hearing more from you.

Sincerely

RE: Cortright family
Hi Connie--i think I missed this e-mail. Sorry for the delay in replying. I would love any information you have on the Cortrights. The picture that I placed here of Dorman and Eliza Cortright has become amazingly dear to me and I am going to include their story in a book I am writing. Anything and everything you might be be able to tell me about the family--and especially about Dorman and Eliza and their children, would be wonderful. I am especially interested if you know Eliza's cause of death. I know Dorman died of TB. I'm wondering if she died of the same.

I bought the photo of Dorman and Eliza on Ebay, BTW. I collect daguareeotypes. Something about their expressions really grabbed me.

Looking forward to your reply.

Cortright family
Hi--I am a historian working on a book that is going to include a chapter about Dorman and Eliza Cortright. I own an early daguerreotype of the couple and what I could discover of their lives so haunted me that I have rather become a bit obsessed with them. :) I just found the image you added of the cortright's daughter Emma, whose husband came to such an unfortunate end, and I was wondering if you had any more images associated with the cortright family, family stories, or anything I might use in the chapter I am writing on them.

I very much look forward toy our reply!
