Bio Photo I was born in Coudersport, Potter County, PA. Up until age 6 lived in Oswayo, PA so have roots in "God's Country". Lived just over the border in NY until I joined the Navy out of high school. Retired from the Navy after 25+ years. Got interested in genealogy 10 years ago and have been adding to my family's genealogy since then. I am the McKean Co. PA coordinator at Painted Hills Genealogy Society.

Thank you Fred!! You're the second living family member I've come across in the five years I've been doing genealogy. Nice to meet you!!!

RE: Charles A. Amidon #80956930
Thanks, good info.

I do like those simple military stones for veterans but the older ones don't have any dates on them. This has created more than one mystery to solve over the years.

I appreciate the response.

Charles A. Amidon #80956930

I was hoping you could double check Charles' death date from your source. I can't seem to find it online. I have him still alive in the 1880 US Census living with his brother George in Liberty, PA. This memorial has him dying in 1865.

RE: fredrick amidon
I figured that was the case because I am from his second wife Joanna. I didn't catch that at first while reading the descentant list that I found with my family in it.I will e-mail you soon. Thanks again.

fredrick amidon
I don't think you came from the same line as me, and I know Phillip Amidon is my 7th grandfather. I would like to research this some more. I hope you would message me about this, because all the rest of my family is in the family line I'm speaking of.

Descendants of the first known Amidon in the new world
I don't see your name on the compilation of descendants of Roger Amadowne, later the name changed to Amidon. I'm 54 and I don't see your name down the list by me, unless I missed it.

RE: Amidons from Wells
Bert and Arthur were the sons of Horace Brizzee and Samantha Morris..They had Arthur, Bert(called Elmer in the early census)Polly Spencer, Stella Wilson Hosmer, Edith Halliday and Mable Walker Mullen.. Arthur married Violet Baker and had several kids including Vina Musto who is buried with her Dad and her parents raised her sons...Catnip has half of the Brizzees and won't connect or add anything to the memorials as I found out when I tried to get her to connect Stella Hosmer to her parents.. She says Horace's widow died in 1927 but I can't find her in 1920 so can't add the date and she won't send me confirmation...Horace's father John never returned from the Civil War and their Mother is buried on the family farm.. I need to add that and start making connections there as about half of the Brizzee's in the Oswayo area are children of John Brizzee and Augusta Pearsall.. The Brizzee's came to Oswayo following a Sister Polly Estes... I think I can send you Bert and Arthur plus Lulu Baker once I am done adding them..The others I will have to check and try and contact Catnip again...Chris

RE: Amidons from Wells
I am in process of adding all of the Brizzzee and related families buried in Wells so I will probably send you those as well as soon as I add them and get the pictures logged...Must be the Leah Blesh buried near Bert and Orcelia were Sisters??Your little message cleared up a bunch of things...I am a stranger for the most part trying to add and post things on Find A Grave for some of the cemeteries and its my intention to have families take over most of the memorials once I have things done.. As I said you may know the dates for Ortie Amidon and who the Baby Girl Amidon belongs to...I have the same confusing ties back in my family so if you could send me a message on who was who and who belonged to who it would help my records and to get things logged onto Find A Grave correctly.. I will be sending along the Amidons that I have come across and the ones I am adding...I knew most of the relations but did not have the Palmer piece figured in...Leah Alphelia Palmer Blesh only has a poor tin marker and I haven't found a obit here locally so your info is a great help...The girl who did part of the Brizzee's won't add any corrections and doesn't respond to my emails.. I am working on that family through a 85 year old descendant who still lives in Oswayo...Glad I can be of help..Chris
