I consider myself to be my family's unofficial historian, and I see it as one of my responsibilities to visit cemeteries. |
I work in Austin, Texas, as a genealogy librarian.

|EM2 Parham||MEMORIAL #79259751|
If it is possible I would like to check the initials on Mem.# 79259751. On the cemetery list it shows G.W. Thomas. I need to know if this is correct. Could the G be a C. the reason I ask is S. A. Thomas (Susan Amanda nee Hill)Mem# 105697490 is the daughter of Asa Hill and Elizabeth Barksdale and sister to James Monroe Hill and John Christopher Columbus Hill of the famous Hill family of Georgia and Texas. I have the record of Susan Hill married 28 June 1841, Rutersville, Fayette Co., TX to Charles Wesley Thomas. I have been unable to find the grave of Charles W. Thomas and thought it a bit interesting that there was a G.W. Thomas buried in the same cemetery (with the same birth and death data)as Susan.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank You

I placed them there to mark the plot location rather than take a picture of a blank space.
I feel kind of defeated when there is no headstone I love doing this for people and when there is no headstone I feel bad for the family that there is nothing to mark the grave. So I place some kind of flowers as a marker with the hope it makes us all feel better.

You're welcome. Still on the hunt for James and Mark. If there are no longer headstones there, do you want a picture of where they would have been?

|Jacqui||RE: James Keene - London Rd Cemetery - Coventry|
I am new to findagrave in terms of actually looking for headstones to fulfil photo requests and I thought I would try and find some of the ones that are local to me which is how I came to be looking at London Rd as it is just 10 miles down the road from me. I got in touch with Coventry Council to see if they had a plan of the cemetery (Stratford is great as the cemetery there is an online searchable database) unfortunately not so for London Rd. They will do a free search on three names, after which you have to pay. James Keene was one of the names I gave them and that was the information they came back with so that was a bit of luck! I was free yesterday afternoon so I did have a drive over but couldn't find any headstone unfortunately. However, I did find two other headstones (I didn't realise how big the cemetery actually is wow!) one is for a John Keene who died 5 Sept 1868 age 75 and his wife Hannah Keene who died 29 Sept 1874 age 76. The other headstone is for Henry Keene who died 4 June 1893 age 30. Mary Ann Keene (his mother) who died 25 Sept 1886 age 57 and Caroline, widow of Thomas Bailey who died 22 Oct 1903 age 44. I have taken pictures of these if you would like them - assuming they are part of your family? I also found a very useful website which has one of the photos you are after, ie Jonathan Keene who died 1852 - the link is http://warwickshireinfo.webspace.virginmedia.com. If you want me to go to the record office in Coventry for any other information, just let me know and I'm more than happy to do that for you.

I have found out a bit more information for you regarding James. His grave marker is Square 134, Number 135. The following people are laid to rest in this grave:
Rhoda Keene – burial date – 15/03/1866 – aged 4 months
James Keene – burial date – 15/03/1866 – aged 85 years
Sarah Keene – burial date – 14/12/1873 – aged 39 years
Arthur Ernest Keene – burial date – 05/04/1877 – aged 7 months
Mary J Moore – burial date – 10/04/1919 – aged 75 years
I hope this information is helpful to you. Would you like me to have a drive over there and see if there is a headstone?

|Carol & David||RE: Gorman photos|
You are very welcome. The Gorman stone is one tall stone with four sides. Charles Gorman is on one side, Patrick, Emily & William Gorman on a second side, the third side has Thomas, Sallie & George Warner and the last side has John, Sallie & William Warner. I did not take the Warner sides because the sun was not on those two sides, and it would be harder to read. They would be better later in the day. I would assume there would be a relationship between the two families. The Warners are listed in Phillipsburg Cemetery too.

Hello. I am interested in learning more about the family of James Manor. Since you have posted his information, I thought I might ask if there are people in your area who might know more. He is a multiple great-grandparent.
