I was in the cemetery yesterday and tried to find the grave. There are quite a few written only in Hebrew. Is there anyway you can write the name and attach it to the request or email it to me and the other person that can get there? This may be why we haven't located it yet. I will try again in about 2-weeks.

Do you have any ideas of what gate number, society or plot they may be in? I looked in the Bayside ledger but there is no one listed with those names. The ledgers are not complete or 100% accurate so it doesnt mean they are not at Bayside. I dont know how familiar you are with Baysides situation but it was vandalized and neglected for many years. Many stones have been lost or destroyed, especially ones from the era you are interested in.
If you have any idea where I could look, I would be happy to do so.
All the best,

I created the Memorial Page with Bio before the photo of his gravestone was added. The history I had of the family, showed the date of Nov 1868, but that is too close to the birth of the next child to be correct. The 1900 Census shows in the Census Image "Nov 1867" as his birth date. Abraham and Amalya married 29 Oct 1865 so either 1866 or 1867 is possible. To make it less confusing, I have changed his birth date to coincide with his gravestone.
Thank you for your input.

You put in a photo request for a grave in Forest Lawn. If you check the cemetery site you will find that the make it very difficult for photos. They have even threatened volunteers with arrest. They do have some "requirements" in order for photos to be allowed. If you can do these, I can possibly attempt to get your photo.
|Kay Arnold||Kay Arnold Photo request for the O'Briens at Mt. Calvary Cemetery,|
If you look at the 'home page' for Mt. Calvary Cemetery, you will see the only photos available from this cemetery. It has been closed for decades and is now surrounded by barbed wire with a padlocked gate. It has been burned and vandalized over the years such that very few of any original tombstones remain.
When Mt. Calvary closed, many of those buried there were disinterred and moved to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA (Phone: (510) 581-2488). You might contact them to see if the O'Briens had been moved there. If so, be sure to get a location because they will not give locations to volunteers and the cemetery is much too large to find a grave without knowing the location.
