I have always been interested in genealogy ever since I can remember. Going to cemeteries is a great past time of mine and my husbands'. I have a very large family and will sometimes request a transfer. If I do, it is very much because I am related. There is so much history told quietly in a cemetery, the older the better. |
I am mostly interested in the Crapse/Jarrell/Mock/McAlhaney/Nix with the Shuman, Tuten, Smith, Long, and assorted other names thrown in. . If I have added them, I am related to them with just a few exceptions. I do not "hoard" or grab for memorials.
Another great interest of mine are Civil War burials.
If you find an error, please let me know.

Hello are you related to Fredrick Kenneth Nix by any chance? He lives in North Carolina. He was in the Military many years ago and he use to live in Louisiana. He also owned Nix's Upholstery business in Louisiana. Just wondering if you knew him or any of his relatives. I am hitting a dead end every where I turn. Anything will help. God Bless.

Hi, Tracy, I think we met at the Thames Reunion.
Thank you so much for all you do. My brother Jay and I visited the Thames cemetary after the reunion. Could you tell me what the entire inscription is on Annie Lou Ginn Thames headstone? She was my grandfather's first wife and the mother of my mother's half sister, Aunt Willie Mae Bagmal "Aunt Sheesh"
Thank you so very much.

On Joseph Trowell's memorial you have him as being buried on the Johnston Plantation in Hampton County. Could this also be the Captain Jonas Johnston Cemetery I've read about? Do you have any knowledge of where this plantation was? I've been to the spot at Tuckasee King/Trowell's Landing in Effingham County, GA where Joseph's father had a plantation (and where Joseph was supposedly born). I'm familiar with the Estill/Luray area of Hampton County and on my next trek would like to try to pinpoint the Johnston's place.

I just want to thank you very much for the photo of the gravestone of Arthur M. Long. I really appreciate you providing it.
I live in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. If there is anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you for taking the photo of her grave marker. I do not like to leave a memorial without a date of birth, it just doesn't feel complete. I appreciate your efforts to get it for me.
