Bio and Links
Bio Photo I grew up Mormon, but don't really go to church at all. I've got 4 Years in the Navy and 15 in the Army National Guard. Full time, i work at a Riverboat Casino in Shreveport. I enjoy walking around cemeteries, Especially old ones. I think that cemeteries with all flush mounted stones should be banned. there's no beauty there. It's too sterile. these were once people with their own personality and story to tell. How can you tell anything about anyone with a small block of granite that has only enough room for a Name, Birth date, and Death date? I usually take as many photos as i can in a Cemetery whether someone requests them or not. I can't see going for one or two shots. I usually print out a list of names without photos. Me and my buddy Mark go out there and "Carpet Bomb" the cemetery.

RE: Eden Sampson
Hey Jim,
I was in the town hall in Derby, CT yesterday to try to research some of my family. So I took some time to look up the details on your Wheelden family that were on the gravestone at Oak Cliff Cemetery which I took photos of for you.

Not sure how you'd like me to give you this info. I can send it thru this website on a message like this. Let me know.

Let me give you an interesting fact I discovered: Caroline L Baier and her sister Christine E Baier were married on the same day in Derby by Rev. George H Buck at St. James Episcopal Church. (As a note of interest, my great grandfather rang the bells at that church around the same time.)

So let me know if you would like me to send along the details from the vital records in Derby.

Regards,

RE: Eden Sampson
Hi Jim,
Thanks so much for the information on Eden Sampson. It was so thoughtful of you to go to the trouble of finding and sending that info.

I have Mary Chandler Sampson's bible. Twin sons were born to Mary and Eden after his death.

I already had most of the information you sent to me. My cousin gave me a copy of a letter the commanding office wrote to his widow after Eden's death. I had never even heard of the battle of Cane River in Lousiana until I read that letter. And there is almost no mention of it online. Thanks again for being so thoughtful.

Greenwood Cemetery
Hello how are you, I noticed a few photos you took of the Barnes family, Robert C., Susan, Patsy and Georgia, I was wondering if you could tell me what section they are located in, I have been to Greenwood a few times and know very well how vast it is, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

That's great Jim. If you find you don't have separate one for Lorraine, don't worry about it. I'm sure the photo of the double markers will be fine :-)

Jim, thanks for filling my photo request for Avery McAvoy (# 54313969 )! The 2nd photo you took shows his marker to the left of his wife's & they're both mounted on the same base. I do have an outstanding request for his wife Frances Lorraine (Bouchard) McAvoy (# 28090323 ). If you could Claim that request & attach that photo to her page that would be great! Looks like her name was engraved as Lorraine B. McAvoy, but that's her - known as Lorraine. Did you happen to get a closeup shot of her marker like the one you did for Avery?
