I love spending time with my family and doing genealogy. (Tetreault, Deneault, Racette, Schmidt, Richard, Giroux, Dyson, Miller, Blochlinger) just to name a few.

A Cemetery is a history of people, a perpetual record of yesterday and a sanctuary of peace today.
A Cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering always.

By Thelma Greene Reagan

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

The Ancestor
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marble stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder how you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

RE: Leonard family
Thanks for getting in touch. My husband's cousin's line, from her husband, comes down through James Robert Leonard. I have been researching and trying to link the family together for her. A pretty hard task sometimes, depending on the response of various FindAGrave members. A pleasant challenge most of the time. :)

RE: Verna Schaffer
How do I add Harold? Do you want me to upload it to Verna's page or is there one for Harold? I am new to this and unsure about how to get this photo to you!

Verna Schaffer
I just uploaded a photo of Verna Schaffer for you. She was a little tricky to find as her headstone has a different last name and I wasn't paying close attention! I also took a photo of Harold Schaffer's gravestone. If you would like that, let me know. Today was a beautiful day for a walk in a cemetery.

I'm an German-American non-profit researcher and will write a story about emigrants from Lohne/Oldenburg to the States.
Can I use the pictures you posted to findagrave for my project?

Old photos
I have a couple old photos and I don't know if I'm allowed to add them. They are old family photos. One of my grandparents and one of my great-grandparents. My grandparents were married in 1928 and my great-grandparents in 1910 and the photos have to be close to have been taken around those times. I'm new to this and just don't want to add something that's not allowed.
