I've enjoyed spending time in cemeteries since I was child. This site makes me happy to know that people are always remembering those that have come before us. I enjoy getting exercise and just generally being outdoors via walking the cemeteries. It's also great to help folks find their past through volunteer efforts. I often think of it as my good deed for the day. I generally have no connection to most of the postings I've created. My family are featured under my virtual cemeteries listings. My ancestors had the family names of Baker, Bauer, Creamer, Crisman, Edmond, Elgert, Everhart, Fandrei, Fisbeck, Gebhard, Hinzman, Jones, Kuhn, Kukuck, Millet, Riddle, Ridge, Roscrons, Schoen, Scott, Springer, Shoup, Streich, Von Gro, Wilde, Willert, Wolff.

Please feel free to contact me if you have corrections, additions or would like a transfer. If you have a family connection, please feel free to contact me. If you are happy with my services as a volunteer, please leave flowers on one of my loved ones files in remembrance. Thanks!

National Orphan Train Complex

Hi! We were wondering if we could use your photo of Pete Windholz's tombstone in a display about him at our museum. He was an Orphan Train rider and it touched us that his foster parents put that inscription on his stone. Such a beautiful tribute! Thank you!

You might like to add her parents name.
She is the daughter of Rosa Opal Hill
and Arthur F. Jones.

I believe the parents are also buried in
the Fairbury Cemetery.

Thank you for the work you are doing.
Will have to check out for other cousins.

Find a Grave photos
I am writing a two-volume book on the 8th Indiana. I would like to include photos of the soldiers and their headstones with their biographies. I would like to use some of your photos in the book and will give you credit in the caption for each photo. If you are interested, I can let you know when the book is published. If it is ok to use your photos, could you also give me your first and last name for the captions?

Would you add where my g.g. grandfather was born in Russia? It was Mariental, Russia which is not on the list to choose from.

Please add his Obituary:
Johan J. Romey was known in America by the name of John J. Romey as well as John J. Rome. The family last name in German Russian last names is listed as "Rome." He passed away at his home in Ellis, Kansas after a short illness of a few hours. He was 67 yrs. old. He and his wife Mariana (Mary) immigrated from Russia arriving in America in 1892. They made their home in Victoria upon arriving in Kansas and later moved to Ellis where he lived for seventeen years. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 14 years.

When he died he left his wife, five sons and four daughters. He also had 29 grandchildren and a half brother, John Gesner.

Funeral services were held at January 10th at 2:30 PM on Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Johan (John) J. Rome is buried at St. Mary's Church Cemetery in Ellis, Kansas.

Russell/Elllis Counties Civil War veterans
I am working on a project to identify the last resting places of many "old soldiers"that had roots/ties to Vermont. In my research of Kansas cemeteries I have found you as contributor of several monument/markers for memorial pages for s few of these patriots. What I have found so far are Cleveland Weeks in Russell Co.,Andrew Hosley in Ellis Co. and Eli Sheldon, also in Ellis.Co. There may be others I haven't found yet. May I use these photo's to post on the Vermont Civil War site? ( www.vermontcivilwar.org)

You would receive credit for this.
Thank you for your consideration.
