Pet peeve: Using INTERNMENT (the practice of placing persons in detention, especially during wartime), where INTERMENT (burial) is actually intended.
If you take a photo that seems better than the one I have taken, by all means, post it! The quality and legibility of a photo depend on a lot of things--amount of sunlight, angle of sunlight, shading by trees, time of day, etc. Sometimes I get a good pic and sometimes I don't. A not-so-great pic is better than none at all.
Things I try to do (but don't always succeed in doing!)
1)Take pics on a sunny morning.
2)Don't get my shoes or other extraneous items/people in the pic!
3)Take the pic so the stone looks level, even if it isn't.
4)Crop my photos before posting so I don't have 50% grass and the stone is small and difficult to read.
5)Avoid getting a reflection of myself in the stone (and wear dark clothing to minimize that if it does happen).
6)Avoid casting shadows on the stone.
7)Check all sides of the stone.
8)Photograph the "front" of the stone, not including the "top" at all, unless there is something specific of interest on the top.

Always happy and eager to make corrections, additions or add links to memorials.
1/2015 update: Going through memorials I have transferred, I'm astonished at the number of people who wanted transfers but have done nothing with them. If you ask for a transfer, please add a bio, add a photo...at least add a flower!

Thank you, Carol, for this unexpected gift. And thank you for your hard work and dedication on these memorials.

No you did not do wrong, because there was no memorial in the cemetery when you created yours.
I told that person in the edit that yours should stand. Some members of findagrave do not know the rules. The person probably thought because you made yours at a later date that theirs should stand. As I wrote before, I had it happen to me. They will just put in the cemetery and want the memorial. Lucky it was deleted and you did not have to email Find A Grave.
Glad I could help and thanks for letting me know what happened, as I am a very curious person.

I'm not perfect either.
If I remember correctly, I sent Tami Glock [memorial #145798315] a message if the memorials matched, hers was the duplicate, because she did not have a cemetery.
I remember that hers was dated before yours, but I told her to merge or delete hers, because it was not in a cemetery. Normally, the one dated first is not the duplicate, but when a creator has no cemetery, it is the duplicate. But creators will put in the cemetery and want to keep the memorial.
It happens to me all the time.
Hope this helps.
Let me know.

Thanks for transferring Aunt Verna's Memorial to me! Nobody in the family knew where she was buried.

Thank you so much for your information...and it was wonderful watching as you filled in those photo requests last year. I'm in California, so it was nice to see some of those forgotten ones remembered and located. I just happened to notice yesterday that I hadn't made a request for a few of them and thought I'd give it a whirl. Maybe someone can shed some light at some point. Thanks again, Lisa

On the Memorial for Goldie Vandegriffe, Lyle and Marsha noted that you had provided the infomation on her marriage to Fred M Branson. I have looked and looked through my files, and old area newspapers, and still haven't found the marriage. Could you let me know where you found this information? Thanks so much, Fred is a distant cousin, and Goldie was the mother of my first cousin's husband. Thanks for any help you can provide. Keep up the good work on Findagrave!!!.

Good Day: How thoughtful of you to do that! And so promptly too! Thanks so much! For all your selfless service. May God Bless You!- CM

Hi Carol, I lost my Aunt Laura yesterday and I made her a memorial. I wanted to know if you could add the photo you have of her grave stone since you are the one who did her husband's memorial. Carl Friess. Also if you can link her sons to her memorial that would be wonderful. Thank you!

I haven't been on here in some time. Thanks for the up to date photo of Merle's grave marker. :)
