Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am retired and enjoy working on genealogy as a hobby. I have a masters degree from the University of Oklahoma and I'm using my research skills to hunt down my ancestors.
www.findagrave.com is a terrific web site.
My ancestors include but are not limited to:
Allison, Campbell, Morris, Johnson, Holdsworth, Baird, Kirkpatrick, Phillippi, Worley, Sweeney, Vaught, Watson, Dale, Wheeler, Hoyt, Newman

I make an effort to connect husbands, wives and families using obituaries and census records.

As many of you know, I have spent hours taking photos in the Rose Hill Cemetery in order to create memorials. I also do research in the Oklahoma Historical Society Library for some of my memorials.

Member: Oklahoma Historical Society, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Civil War Trust, Friends of Mt Vernon, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, National Women's History Museum, Pulaski Co KY Historical Society, Cornerstone Genealogical Society (PA), Morrow Co OH Genealogical Society, Osborne Co KS Historical Society.

Use the "Suggest a Correction" feature on the appropriate memorial to submit information or any requests. I follow the Find-A-Grave guidelines regarding the transfer of memorials. Any transfer requests should only be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Thanks! I just try to make things as exact as possible to help families searching for information, and when I notice something, I try to point it out to others. I agree, the obituary information probably is the best bet on this situation. Thanks for all you do to promote family genealogies.

RE: Viola Bess Phillippe Denton (1918-2012)
Viola Bess Phillippe Denton (my mother) was born June 13, 1918 in Bristow, Creek County, Oklahoma, to her parents Roy Riggs Phillippe and Luella Bess Vaughan Phillippe. She had one brother: John William Riley Phillippe and one sister: Lillis Ewin Phillippe Lightfoot.

Using “Google” -- you can see:

This shows a picture of my mother and a picture of her four children

This one is mother's mother Luella Bess Vaughan Phillippe—you can also see her father's name on the same page: Roy Riggs Phillippe. You can also see John William Riley Phillippe (my mom's brother) and Lillis Ewin Phillippe Lightfoot (my mom's sister).

In addition, my mother Viola Bess Phillippe Denton was the wife of Curtis Coleman Denton, the parents of all four children. You can see my father by looking at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=35677231

Janet,

The only reason I did not put SGT MAJ in front of his name is he was a Command SGT MAJ. A SGT MAJ is a Staff SGT MAJ, both are E-9s, but do two different Jobs. CSM works with troop, where a SGM works with the Staff. I wish they had CSM as a choice. If you feel you still want SGT MAJ let me know.

RE: Benjamin Allison
Thank you for posting the somewhat conflicting information about his military service. Making all of the information available is the best any of us can do. Your promt work, and the extent of your endeavors are to be admired. Thank you. Charles Forbes.
