My kids think going to cemeteries is what everyone does on vacation. I am a native Pennsylvanian, but have lived in Georgia for over 28 years, minus three years overseas.

Many of the memorials I have created are NOT my family members, but after photographing, researching, and posting, they do begin to feel like family. I have no ancestors locally. Therefore, I have had to depend upon the kindness of volunteers living elsewhere to create memorials or take photos for me. In return, I try to take as many photos as I can locally to post to non-family memorials, hoping to "pay it forward." If I have taken a photograph you would like to use for your personal, private, off-line use, let me know, and I'd be happy to send you one of a larger resolution. Please do NOT post my pictures on the Internet; you can add links to them, though.

I will *consider* out of guideline transfers of your relatives (who are not also mine) if you are an established, regular contributor to Find a Grave who demonstrates an understanding of the FAQs and purpose of the site. (Don't mean for that to sound judgmental. I am just hoping to avoid potential problems.) Please use the SAC function (edit button) to request transfers, and be sure to let me know specifically how you are related. If you are brand new here, welcome! Folks come and go often, and I like to make sure you're going to stick around and contribute regularly before I transfer. You may want to read the "help with Find a Grave" section to understand the purpose of the site. In addition, folks merely interested in genealogy might well be happier having someone more active to manage the memorials, and use other more-suited sites to build trees. That "virtual cemetery" feature is also useful in sorting out the branches of your tree. In the meantime, please feel free to send me as much additional info as you wish via the edit button on the memorial.

I am wondering if this could be the son of Peter Freeland Lawshe and Julia Ann Cotton Lawshe. Peter and Julia had a son named Norman who was born about 1860 in Rochester, Olmsted County, Minnesota. The family moved to Atlanta, Georgia between 1880 and 1889. Both Peter and Julia are buried at Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, where Norman is buried. Siblings of Norman were Cecelia F. Lawshe Vandusen, Edgar A. Lawshe, Carrie Estella Lawshe, Alice Rosalie Lawshe Thornton, Charles Whitney Lawshe, Clarence F Lawshe, Paul Lawshe, Frank C Lawshe and Mabel Lawshe. Cecilia and Edgar were born in Indiana and Carrie, Alice, Charles, Clarence and Norman were born in Minnesota. Paul, Frank and Mabel were born in Georgia.

Hey Linda, I can never thank you enough for all the great work you've done at Oakland. I've been contacted by a relative of one of our soldiers and I was hoping you'd be on the lookout for his stone in particular. His name is Edwin Walker Jackson of the 45th Alabama Infantry. Again, Thank You so very much.

RE: Richard Bowie
This will bother me until I find the citation! So I'll send to you as soon as I track it down.

RE: Richard Bowie
Well .... as I sent that to you I thought, hmmmm how unlike me (I'm a librarian) to not have the citation. So I've been looking high and low for it. I'm almost certain it was published in the "Planters Advocate" but I cannot prove it at the moment. There is a much briefer obit in the Baltimore Sun. Guess I'll need to order up a copy of Volume 1 of the Baltz's book "Prince George's County Maryland: Marriages and Deaths" which includes material from all the local PG County newspapers.

RE: Rush Tarwater Lewis
Actually I have done some deed research on the Lewis homeplace in Warren Co Tn and believe I have finally found the actual names instead of initials. Rush belonged to a family that apparently came to Tn with or at the same time as George and Margaretta did. From PA. Sarah Rush is actually Margaretta's Mother, Sarah Barnes who remarried William Rush. Took me a while to puzzle that one out! The Rush family intermarridd at least one other time when George Lewis brother Edward married Martha Rush Dunton. She also was found living in Warren Co with the Lewis family when she became widowed. She is buried in PA. Geo and Marg are buried in Clarksville, Tn. Still no clue where Edward is buried. I recently ordered a new headstone for Mary H Lewisas it was missing. Once it is placed at Nashville City Cemetery I will take a pic and try to upload it.

RE: Bio info for John nelson
You sent me a suggestion to add to the memorial for John Nelson at the Ellensburg WA IOOF cemetery. I have one question to ask before I do that.

In the information you sent me you state that he moved to "Great Falls, ND" Is it really North Dakota or did you mean Montana? I await your reply before I add your information to the memorial. You can contact me directly at Storla98926@charter.net

RE: speer photos oakland
not at all by now. I often have to get the staff to try and find persons. There are a surprising amount of graves that are unmarked. Also If there is nothing to shoot I get the marker closest to the spot - but I will note that.
