Bio and Links
Bio Photo Old cemeteries and the stories they hold have always fascinated me. I started posting photos to this site in the hope of helping others find their ancestors and to say thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way with my genealogy searches.
I have no objection to transferring memorials of your close relatives to you. Please be sure to tell me the relationship. Please use the edit function to make your requests and please be sure to give me your contributor number.
Please keep in mind that I do this as a VOLUNTEER because I enjoy it and hope to help others find their "lost relatives". I do not have to transfer every memorial of your surname to you. I don't have to agree to drive hundreds of miles to retake a photo for you because you want a better photo or higher resolutions. At the time I started posting photos FAG had a fairly small limit on the size of photo that could be added. I don't have to put up with the recent rudeness that seems to have taken over this website. A simple thank you will be more effective than some of the outrageous demands that have started appearing.

misspellings and duplicates
Misspellings are going to cause problems everywhere forever, I think. I keep waiting for someone to start entering the 800 or so misspelled names that I finally got corrected in Sunset Hills Cemetery here in Bozeman. If they use the same cemetery list that was initially used to make the spreadsheets that were entered, they'll think they have a lot of new people, even though it says 100% photographed.

Somehow Find A Grave has to get new people to thoroughly read some things concerning misspelled names and the duplicates that will likely result. I gladly delete my originals if someone has added a lot of info or many links and family photos to a duplicate they added.

But lately I've started taking them on a case-by-case basis. If there was only one Harry Van ______ in the whole cemetery, but the person didn't search using just Harry Van and then send a correction, then their duplicate should go. Hmmmm...maybe Find A Grave could limit what can initially be entered as search parameters when someone tries to enter a new name in a cemetery that already had thousands of entries...I don't know.

I also don't want to make a lot of extra work for people, so will pull the dates and places and short Bio info from their dupes so that all they have to do is move the pic, then delete.

Another possibility for Find A Grave to implement would be something that I think should be done for women with multiple married names--AKAs, as they do for cemeteries. They could do it for misspelled names, too, and there could be a field for someone who knows to enter info about various lists that the misspellings appear on. Then if someone tried to enter someone by that name, they would get a Pop-up that said "this name is a misspelling of so-and-so", with a link to the AKA info.

I saw in the Forums a couple months ago that Find A Grave was in the process of completely re-vamping much of the Main Site. I sure do hope they have figured out some ways to prevent dupes (and BUs and "plops", too, although those seem more difficult--because how can anyone prove that someone is not buried somewhere, if there's no record of them being buried anywhere else?), because they sure do make a lot of extra work for people like you and me.

Elizabeth/Lizzie Sanborn Kint Ward
Lizzie Kint was my great grandmother and her name was never Elizabeth...just Lizzie. My Grandmother was one of a set of twins...Bula and Lula...Lizzie also had a daughter, Glynn and Catherine. Also, in between Kint and Ward, she was married to a man named Joseph Steinke. three daughters (I believe) with Mr. of them named Blanche. Another daughter MAY be Edie...

RE: Sarah Jane Brink
Hi, I'm related to the Carpenter line by Alva Clark Smith(my ggf)who's mother was Phoebe(Carpenter)Smith. You also took the picture for my other ggf, Lee Roy Davis who was the father of my grandmother, Oma June(Davis)Smith married to Alva's son Raymond George"Ray"Smith. Been researching for years and now trying to find final resting places and join family members together. Find A Grave is a great site for this. Nice talking to you, Dan Smith.
