I was a volunteer for the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness Website for Oklahoma City cemeteries hosted by Rootsweb.com. I was blessed with all that volunteers from that site helped me with. |
I love genealogy and my dream job would be to work with Ancestry.com in documention preservaton.
In March 2013 I helped host a Felts Family Reunion in Americus, Georgia. It was for the descendants of George G. Felts and Cinthia Lucretia Blackshear.
On 20 October 2013, several cousins - Shawn Pearson, Dana Pearson, Carlton Kite and his fraternity brothers, Alan Anderson (Sumter County, Georgia historian) and myself located and helped clean the Blackshear Family Cemetery that had not been cleaned in probably 3 to 4 decades.

Can you tell me where you found the Blackshear cemetery in Sumter county? Is it the one that happens to be listed as the Blackshire cemtetery on topo maps and by the usgs?

I sent you updates, links, and corrections for his memorial.
Could you please check your edit tab.
|Barbara Wolf||Clara Nitche, Lindenwood|
Per Lindenwood, Clara is buried in Section R, Lot 74 but she does not have a tombstone. There is a Clara Laubscher also buried on that same lot. Also Charles does not have a tombstone but records agree he is buried in Section S, Lot 4. Any questions call Lindenwood at 260-432-4542. Sorry. Barb
I talked to the church secretary today. She said she can't give me the location unless I'm a relative. Would you send me an email requesting his location and saying your a relative so that I can forward to her to get his location. In other words, if I was a friend of his, I can't visit his grave. Does that make sense? Thanks

I have looked through the cemetery and unable to find a stone for him. I'll check with the church office to see if they have a location for him

|Helen Mathis||Augustus Gullette|
I received an email today from Sunset Memory Gardens. Their records are not computerized or they will not allow me to look at the registry books. They tell me the don't have time to do look-ups for me.
I suggest you call them at 813-986-2402 and request the gravesite information.
Once you receive the information let me know what it is and I'll go to the cemetery to take pictures.
P.S. This stinks

I'm waiting on the informatin from Sunset.
As soon as I receive this information I will go to the cemetery and take pictures then post them to you.

Hi Renee, Do you know anything about this John McDonald's family and where he lived besides Sumter Co., GA? I am tracking my John McDonald (reportedly b. 30 Oct 1774 Perthshire, Scotland - d. 1840 Jefferson Co., GA) married reportedly to a Mary (b. 1774-1794 or 1780-1790, d. ? - not found after 1830). Their sons John Allen McDonald (b. 5 March 1820 - d. ?) and James Madison McDonald (b. 25 Aug 1816 - d. 26 March 1899 Madison Co FLA.) and maybe Randall/Ranald McDonald, maybe born 1802, were all supposed to have lived around Americus, GA, Sumter Co before 1850. I'm wondering if the elder John & Mary McDonald didnt move there too. I cannot find any probate, will, mention of death, burial site, etc., for my McDonalds in Jefferson Co., GA., in an actual record or document. My John McDonald appears on the 1820 & 1830 census and in Admin & Guardian records until about 1826, then (at least to 1845) he isnt listed at all. My bunch intermarried with Albritton, Green, and maybe a Pruett/Pruitt. Their daughter Rachel McDonald Albritton reportedly died in Lee Co GA in 1875. Her husband died 1847 in Lee, and she appears on the 1850-1870 Lee Co., GA censuses.
I'm also tracking John Ti-Ta-S-Gi-S-Gi McDonald (b. 1747 Inverness, Scotland, d. 1824) who married Anna Shorey. He was a British sub-Indian agent under John Stuart (Bushyhead). They lived in Lookout Mountain area, now Walker Co., GA. But again I cant find the graves of these people, and the fact that Anna Shorey was a 1/2 blood Cherokee, and my above MARY shares a common female ancestor with Anna's daughter Mary Mollie McDonald (1770-1808), Chief John Ross's mother, doesn't help. Anna & John moved around alot, but ended up back on Chickamauga Creek, now Walker Co., GA by 1800. Its possible they are buried at Brainerd Mission at Chattanooga, Hamilton Co., TN in unmarked graves. Their son George McDonald is reportedly buried there.
