| Bio and Links | I've been doing genealogy and family history work for twenty plus years, ever since I was a young Boy Scout. My dad's early research really was the inspiration for me to continue, and I have enjoyed researching the history of my family as well as the time periods my ancestors lived.
I believe this site is an excellent way for me to share some of the research that I have done with others. Likewise, if I can help a distant cousin locate a photograph of a tombstone, I can give back to the genealogical community. So many others have helped me throughout the years, and this is my chance to give back.
While my goal would be to include photographs of as many tombstones of my ancestors/relatives that I can find, I have also recently began walking cemeteries near work on my lunch hour, and am posting them here.

 | LeMaster Travis, I am trying to find information on Isaac Richard & Bessie Pearl(Ashby)LeMaster. They had three sons: Isaac Richard, Larry Edward & Patrick Michael LeMaster. Bessie was my mothers sister. She's buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indy. If you can help me with any information, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much, JudyAdded by JudyS on Nov 03, 2012 7:05 PM | | | Gaye Hill
 | Relationship between Prof. & Logan Layne The Evening Bulletin newspaper, Maysville, KY Friday 2 October 1896; Front Page, Column 4
PROFESSOR JOSEPH LAYNE DEAD.
A Prominent Career Cut Short By A Mental Affliction.
Anderson, IN, Oct. 2 - Professor Joseph Layne died last night at the home of his brother, Logan, at Frankton, six miles north of here. The funeral will occur Saturday, under the auspices of Anderson commandery, Knights Templars.
Professor Layne was reared near Frankton, and after graduating from the common schools, taught school and made enough money to take him to Wabash college, where he graduated. He returned to Anderson. This was in 1878, and he taught in the high school there for two or three years, until he was elected to the superintendency of the Danville, (Ills.) schools.
From Danville he went to Evansville, where he became superintendent of the public schools for $2,500 a year. He held this position until two years ago, when an affliction of the mind, caused by an attack of grip*, incapacitated him for further work as superintendent. He was not retained for the next year, and returned to Anderson to study and practice law.
Early in his career he had intended becoming a lawyer, and had studied some while teaching. His affliction became steadily worse, and a few months ago he had to be taken to the asylum, from which he was returned to Frankton as incurable a month ago. Professor Layne was 46 years old, unmarried and leaves an estate of $50,000. Two brothers survive him.
*grip; also know as grippe and la gripe(grippe)is ususally noted as influenza.

 | Mary Gilbert Cemetery Records have Mary Gilbert buried in Block 316. However, there is not a tombstone for her at the site. Records show that there are 8 plots in the Block owned by the Gilberts, but the only stone on the Block is a big stone with the name Gilbert on it. I will put a picture of the stone on Mary's Memorial. | | | Heather Cottrell

 | Poe Cemetery I was so glad to add those photos. The cemetery is in disarray and the owners of the property were so kind to help me. It also permitted me to get the GPS of the cemetery and add it to the mapped cemeteries on Find a Grave. The cemetery is only about 5 miles from my home. I am excited that those photos meant something to you and perhaps others. | | | | [View all messages...] |
