Is it acceptable to add a memorial for someone who is still living?
Please try to avoid it. In general, we do not encourage adding memorials for individuals who are still living. We do realize, however, that when transcribing a cemetery, it is not always possible to determine if the person is living or not. Memorials for individuals who are alive will be removed when requested (the exception being for 'famous' individuals who already have a burial location in place). You are always welcome to create a 'pre-need' memorial for yourself, if you would like, provided that you have a pre-need headstone already in place in a cemetery. Given these exceptions, a memorial created after death will be preferred over a pre-need memorial. [Top]

Question for ya.......my neighbors are the Hunnings and I'm wondering why you have made a memorial page for them and they are alive and well. I'm asking because I hope you respond with a good answer if you reply at all. I know these people, do you? They are upset to say the least. So, with that being said I hope you do reply. I really want to understand your thinking process before I say to much more.

All the information you sent me to post is already on the memorial in relationship links and dates/places section.
I did put in the bio section that some of the information's source was "Florida Deaths, 1877-1939," database, FamilySearch.
I think that covers that request for Mrs. Blackshear's memorial.

I've transferred the memorial to you -- so you can update the bio, plus you are related.

My wife and I located the gravesite for this John Ellis and it was the only marker that we could find. The marker was located in a big open field that was enclosed by a barb wired fence. My wife had to lean over the fence the best she could in order to get the photo we got.
There were no other markers except for a few that were just unmarked stones. They looked like big white bricks. We saw no reason to take pictures of them.
Sorry we don't have any more information than this.
We did go back and put the death date of 1831 on his memorial. If you enlarge our photo of his marker, you can make out the year 1831.
There is another Ellis Family Cemetery located in Cherokee County, but it does not have any Ellis individuals listed.
Let me know if we can be of further help.
Archie & Dianne Fowler

My grandmother was a Belk. So I research all the Belk memorials and noticed the way it was listed. Thanks for your work and creating their memorials, sincerely.
