My name is Vickie. I grew up in Swannanoa, N.C. and now I live in Asheville. I enjoy researching family history and walking through cemeteries to read stones. Everyone deserves to be remembered. Someone somewhere loved them. Thanks to the great contributors here at Find a Grave, I have been able to see the graves of many family members that I would have never seen if it wasn't for their generosity. It is so nice to be able to visit a loved one's grave and not even leave the house.|
If any of my memorials contain errors, or if you have information to add, or you wish for a memorial to be deleted, please send me a message or an edit. All memorials are done with the utmost respect of those who have passed on and those of us left behind.
When my soul is restless
And things seem out of line,
I visit an old graveyard
To take a mystical step back in time.
I find the oldest tombstones
Then read the messages there;
I consider what their days had been
And how our lives in ways compare.
We all have lived though heartaches
As well as episodes of fun;
Surviving loss of loved ones,
And rewarded for a job well done.
Sometimes if I'm very still
I can hear what they have to say
And feel them reaching out to me
Grateful for my momentary stay.

|Sue Leitzsey Bradley||RE: Anderson Cemetery|
Vickie, my friend will call the funeral home that handled his arrangements tomorrow and ask them the exact burial site. I do hope if he is buried there, they cleaned the area of his burial. You can look at some of the photo's to see how thick the briar's are around the grave stones. This is William Anderson Cemetery and the funeral home stated Anderson Cemetery. I don't know why funeral homes don't give correct cemetery names, especially in that area where so many Anderson Cemeteries are located.
Please don't delete the memorial.

|Christine Barraclough||Frank Arthur Oates|
My name is Christine and I live in Yorkshire, England. I've just discovered a memorial here on this website for my relative Frank Arthur Oates, killed in action in France, May 1917. Frank Arthur was from a small place called Rastrick, which is where I live. I have only recently discovered that he had a connection to the United States. Please contact me if you wish.
|Marsha Fisher||cyrus hart|
I was wondering if you are related to Cyrus Hart..my husband's 2nd great grandfather...Marsha
I was wondering through Find A Grave today to make sure I linked all of the Oates' memorials to my tree. One thing I found was your name giving remembrance to one of my family members. Thank you. I would really like to compare notes with you one day.
|Betty Calhoun||Etta Norman Holden|
Vickie, I just found the posting you made for Etta Norman Holden (Fork Mountain Cemetery). I am just finishing a map of that cemetery after many visits and much work. I did not have Etta listed. Ham Holden, her brother-in-law is also buried in that cemetery. I can not find the location of either one of the Holdens. Would you happen to know where they are buried in the cemetery. I will be going there on Sunday for our annual decoration day. Would you happen to be coming?
