Right now I am involved with a project in conjunction with the Sauk Centre Historical Society and the Shad-Patton Funeral Home to try to map and gather information on all the people in Oakland Cemetery, east of Sauk Centre, Stearns County, Minnesota.

The oldest burial is of soldiers killed in the Sioux Uprising in 1863, but those were probably moved from the now-defunct Greenvale Cemetery that was shut down in 1874, the year Oakland was platted. At one point it was under the direction of the GAR, but went through a period of neglect and vandalism. In 1980, Louise Parker Pendroy renewed interest in the cemetery and since then it has been maintained.

Most records and many markers have been lost.

We'll see!

Alvin Blood
Hey, Carmen,

My name is Dan Bell and I work for the South Carolina State Park Service. Our agency owns and manages Rivers Bridge State Historic Site, the site of the Civil War battle where Alvin Blood was wounded. I was excited to see the photo of Alvin Blood that you posted and was wondering if we could get a high resolution scan of it that we might use in future interpretive media at the site. We've identified most of the battle's casualties and used photos of several of them in a permanent exhibit that we recently installed.

Thank you very much. I hope to hear back from you soon.

Sincerely,

Dan Bell

Hello,

I have not gotten the Lange Memorial you said you sent. Did you transfer it to someone else?

Michele

Hello Carmen,

I am willing to take Mary and any one related to her. Any one related to her that you are willing to give me. I am new so starting with my relatives will be helpful for me to get the hang of things before I take on non relatives.
