I've lived in Muscatine, Iowa, since 1982 and have served on the city's Historic Preservation Commission. I am webmaster for the Alexander G. Clark Project http://alexanderclark.org/ and am active in various other local history projects including replacing our 1875 Civil War memorial. Facebook is the best way to connect with me these days. | |

 | RE: Rev. John Smalley Whittlesey Dan, I added more Whittlesey's to Oakhill Cemetery that were included on John's family monument that you may find interesting.

 | Samuel Finley Anderson I tried to request a photo of the stone for this memorial, but this is what was sent to me:
The general problem they reported is: Cemetery office has no record of this person They also reported, specifically: could this be the person? Finley Anderson (First_Last) Regiment Name 3 Iowa Infantry Side Union Company G Soldier's Rank_In Pvt Soldier's Rank_Out Pvt Alternate Name Samuel F./Anderson Notes Film Number M541 roll 1
I don't quite understand it, as there is clearly an alternate name listed, which matches the name you have on the memorial. I think the Company varies, but otherwise, don't you think it's the correct individual? Find A Grave removed my photo request, but I put it back out there, with the above info.Added by HJ on Apr 24, 2012 7:55 PM | | | HJ
 | RE: Findleys Hmmm . . . I think my 4-great-grandfather was a half-brother of Rev. Samuel Findley's father, Judge Samuel Findley. Whew. It almost hurt to figure that out. SO, that means we are completely unrelated, right? Pleased to make your acquaintance, anyway. Thanks for sending the link to the Rev.--the info there is interesting.Added by HJ on Apr 23, 2012 6:18 PM | | | HJ
 | RE: Findleys No, I do not think we have been in contact before. I'm unable to determine to which Mary and Samuel Findley you are connected. There are quite of few of both names in the Findley genealogy I have, but I can't seem to find a Mary that matches those dates.Added by HJ on Apr 20, 2012 4:52 PM | | | HJ
 | Findleys Wondering if you are any relation to the Findleys of Ohio . . . Also wondering, if you had any luck communicating with Wendell Chestnut . . .

 | RE: James and Rhoda North Daniel--you're welcome. I enjoy sponsoring. My line comes through Nancy North Booth 1787-1818. Do you know much about the North children? I'm looking to gather any family history or stories about the daughter of Cyrus (1786- ) and Nancy North Booth. Mary B Booth (1808-1830). I'm also tracking the Burnham name. Thanks--Kathryn | | | InSearchOf
