Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a niece of Lloyd "Pete" Herbert Hughes, who was a Medal of Honor Recipient. Researching his life has been an honor and a privilege. Here are his crew members of the "Ole Kickapoo."

I adopted the Bodan Cemetery in Pollok, Angelina County, Texas, USA because of the many relatives of mine who are buried there. About 40% of those buried there are related to me.

You have my permission to use the grave marker photographs I have uploaded in any genealogy project. They are not one-of-a-kind photographs. You certainly do not, however, have my permission to use my photographs of family members in some money making scheme. Don't laugh, it has already been tried - and stopped.

The transcription of the grave marker on any memorial is important. Please add them. If you have a problem with adding transcriptions of the grave marker, please take it up with Find A Grave. They have a field for it, they, and I, ask that you fill it.

I registered on Find A Grave on 9 Jul 2001 when there were "only" 2.5 million memorials. For some reason, I didn't create my first memorial until 29 Jul 2001.

Thank you for this memorial. A partial list of children of Elzie and Clara's is listed - would you mind adding the others when you have time? These are my grandparents. Children Early, B.I. (I believe this to be Burly), Lena Mae, and Ethel are listed. The list in chronological age is Early, Burly, Lena Mae, Charlie, Holbert, Carrie, Ethel, Howard (my father), Hamp, Floy (may still be living). Thank you much.

Blind Spotlight
RE: Bull?
It's just seems like an odd nickname for a blind musician. Thank you for the advice. I'm a longtime familysearch member.

Bull
Thank you for the transfer. Why was Ernest Wayland called Bull? Where does this nickname originate?

Blind Grads
Greetings. I work at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Austin. If you are ever interested in transferring your Ernest Wayland (33163284) and his wife Ada Start (33163289) to Blind Spotlight, I can write interesting bios on these two graduates of the Blind School. I manage several TSBVI student memorials here. Thank you.

SFC Kathline Forrester
SMN vs SN
According to Google (I'm Army and do not know my Navy ranks so I had to look it up)..

SN is the insignia of Navy Enlisted Personnel E3= Seaman

and SMN is Non-Commissioned Officers & Sailors = Seaman for the Royal Australian Navy

However, when I entered the rank on this particular Vet in 2011, findagrave didn't offer all of the ranks that it does now, so I used the closest one.

RE: Thank you!
Kathy and I were there today and snapped the photo. We are working on a bio and will post more when Kathy is okay with it. I got involved with this in February 2016 hen my uncle Albert passed. The update on SAR is I'm waiting for one piece of information. The next step is to get Kathy in the DAR. Thank you for your note.
