Yep that is quite the name change from Cambron to Camburn? Not sure what the story is behind that one.

there are two Delos Rifenburghs so it is rather confusing - I am related to the senior one, not finding if the two are related, though you would think so with the same name?

RE: virgil decker, st charles
Dear Susan,

I don't think I ever responded to your post from last year. Yes, I would apprectiate it if you transferred ownership of Virgil Decker to me. And thank you so much for posting the photo and obituary.

I wanted to give you time to digest what I found on the internet. Most of your questions are answered and it looks like Rebecca was taken in by her half-brother Stephen Rossen Lesher. So hopefully she had a happy ending. I have some ancestors down south where the parents died right after the civil war ended in 1865 and two of the older children (in their early twenties) had to raise six younger siblings. And that always has bothered me.

I went by Smithfield yesterday and took pictures. The stones are almost illegible, but thanks to the picture on the internet (with the wall and trees in the background) I was able to walk right to the stones. I took pictures and posted them and asked for links and changes.

Let me know if you disagree

RE: Nearly Found her
I remember Marge and her son. He had a nick name that I can't remember. Florida is correct. My Aunt and Grandmother went down there by bus many years ago to visit. I'll see what I can find out. My aunt Shirley is quite frail and confused as well as nearly blind these days so I don't hold out much hope. Thanks again for all the digging.

The Aherns were a huge family. The thing I think of most is the fact that they had a couple of babies die really young and then years later used their names on other babies that survived! 2 Josephs I know of and I think there were others.
There were like 13 of them or so........

RE: Evergreen cemetery
Hold onto your hat, I'm positive I found her.

I hope you subscribe to Ancestry. If so:look up contributor lilysu54 and her Lesher Family Tree.
According to the tree Jacob Lasher was married
1) Hester Marion Stebbins
2) Laura Emeline Thompson
3) Catherine Melinda (Rifenburg can be spelled at least ten ways)

1st and 2nd wives are buried at Smithfield with last name of Lesher. Do you want to make the trip or shall I as I pass it on the way to Evergreen? Jacob is buried at Third Lutheran with 3rd wife and I hold his memorial.

If you don't get ancestry I'll send you details privately. By the way I lost your email.

RE: Ellen Winters obituary
I think I'll leave the name Eleanore. I don't have the pay searches but so far I believe
Sidney Winters 1854
Eleanore C Seeley Winters 1849
Sidney H Winters born 1885 died 8-19-1942
Married Anna about 1886
Kids
Frederick Winters who was about 23 yrs on the 1940 census and I saw an 1944 article where at 23, he went missing on his way to the Bronx to find his mother who had moved there 3 weeks prior.
I saw a daughter on a census but now it won't let me see it.
Sidney H winters sister Enia 3-1884
Franklin S 1882
Estella 1888
Flora N 1891
Eva May 4-9-1885-8-6-1950. This is my husbands Great grandma.

RE: Coralie Robison
Hi Susan: It's a four sided stone with Samuel & Salinda on 1st side. Daughter Rosalia on 2nd side and granddaughter Corlie on third side. (Maybe the death of 1945 is incorrect on the stone?)

I checked on ancestry and found census records that tied the three families together. The person above Corlie is illegible. She was married to a Frederick Williams, but it doesn't look like him. With a death date of 1892 it could be her father Charles. Rosalia is shown as a widow for many years. But it doesn't look like Charles either.

Since I'll be making many trips to Evergreen I'll try to check back and figure out who is above her.
Thanks, Jan

Toriello
Hi I just fulfilled the photo request for George Toriello. Just thought you might like to know there is a headstone for Theresa April 7, 1888-Feb 5, 1980 and Angelo Apr 16, 1879-May 11, 1966 in the same area.
