Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've been researching my family since I was a teenager. Of course, my family lines have been little researched so it makes the work a little more challenging. But I like a good challenge. I volunteer to take pictures for Find A Grave in Fredericksburg City, Spotsylvania Co., King George Co., Caroline County, Stafford Co. and where else I go. My family surnames are: Reed (Reid, Read), Sells, Ashton, Smith, Greene, Roush, Bottorff, Sissell (Cecil), Sayres, Luker, DeHaven, Reading, etc. I research all the family lines. My family tree begins in Loudoun Co. Virginia. From there they moved to Ohio (Guernsey Co., Washington Co., Muskingum Co., Noble Co.). At this point 2 brothers leave Ohio when Oklahoma opens up to settlers (El Reno, OK). One of the brothers leaves Oklahoma and moves to Springfield, MO (Green Co.) and then finally staying in Howell Co., MO until death. According to one of the old history books, the Smith line was from Chester Co., PA. I found members of one line in Allegheny Co., PA and from there they went to Washington Co., OH. One Smith line moved to Grant Co., WVa and they died there. I have found documents (birth, death, marriage, & passenger lists) for the John Reading family. That line was originally from Wales. Still working on the rest especially the Ashton line.

Thank you for creating his memorial. May I include a copy of your gravestone photo in my tree at Ancestry? I will list you as the photographer. Thank you.

RE: DeHaven tree & branches
Dear Cousin!

Here's another look at the DeHaven lines from West/Westley down to our common ancestors, which are, for the most part in the first few generations, a well documented tree. You might contact the owner for additional details on his sources.

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=AHN&db=declub&id=I1896

If correct (a solid lead!) your great grandfather William & my great grandmother Elizabeth were siblings :-), children of our common ggrd parents Peter & Sidonia Levering DeHaven (I'm thinking 7th great grandparents but I may be off, lol ... too confusing!)

On find a grave
Peter http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=10880432

to William http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=10880433

to Peter Buried at Back Creek Quaker Cem in Gainesboro http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=30682245

to Rachel (a mystery there)the tree above has her settling in Indiana ... a slew of Indiana DeHavens too. Some via Kentucky.

to West (was he brought up by his grandparents?)

Back Creek is a great old Cemetery!

Such a small world, lol. Lovely to run across you here!
All for now, hope these leads work out.

Jane

RE: McWhirt
I emailed you a map of the location. It looks like you enter from Huntington Hills Lane. On the right is the office and on the left are a row of trees. If you make the first left and then the first right and drive to the first tree on your right, their marker should be there. My husband requested the photos again since I've used all my requests for the week. I will call the office tomorrow morning to see about the mix up. Thanks again for your help.

Hi- received the notice that this grave is unmarked. Would it be possible to get a photo of their final resting place? Glad to request the photos again. Thank-you for all your help.

Joe Patterson here on find a grave is a keen researcher on the various DeHaven lines - I dropped him an inquiry abt the Virginia branch/cousins possibility. Perhaps he can figure it out :-)

Francis E Hazen
Super, Leslyn, sure appreciate the time you took, and the obvious care, to shoot this photo of Francis Hazen's headstone. There were eight sets of brothers who enlisted in Pike County, PA, Francis among them.

Best, Jane
