Bio and Links
Bio Photo The Yucaipa Valley Genealogical Society was created in 1982. The first Board of Directors was: President; Bonnie Jacobsen, Vice President; John Reynolds, Recording Secretary; Rosalind Bennett, Treasurer; Eloise Cunningham. At the close of 1982 there was a total of 59 members of which 53 were Charter Members.
In 2007, under the presidency of Jamie Daniel, the canvassing of Desert Lawn Memorial Park was started.
In 2008, under the presidency of Gena Ortega, the indexing of birth, marriage and death records reported in the Yucaipa-Calimesa News Mirror was added as an additional project.
In 2009, under the presidency of Earl Giddings, an enormous data-base was created to combine all of the previous efforts and includes thousands of photographs of tombstones to be entered on, not only the Society records but also on Find A Grave.
In 2010, under the presidency of Floyd Ferguson, we are adding information on three other local cemeteries; Stewart Sunnyslope, San Gorgonio and Mountain View.
Since many tombstones provide only the year of birth and death, we have undertaken the project to locate additional information from the Social Security Death Index, California Death Index, California Birth Index, California Marriage Index and our YVGS data-base.
We are aware that some of the CADI information of surnames and maiden names are not always spelled correctly but hope they will be beneficial.
When doing your research, you find we have made an incorrect entry, please notify us.
We have no estimate of when these projects will be completed .
We hope we have helped you with your search and welcome you to visit our website.

RE: Agnes McDonald #51573333
Hi Barbara,

I say AMEN to obits. Thanks to the obit you found for Agnes (Fitzgerald) McDonald I was able to confirm who I thought her parents to be, namely Nicholas and Katherine Fitzgerald living in Mayfield, Yankton County, South Dakota in 1910 and 1920, compliments of the US census. The names in the census for Agnes' brothers match those in her obituary.

Thanks for helping me make the links I consider so important at Find A Grave,

Carolyn Wickens

Irene M. Babbitt
I have recently come into the possession of a Bible with the name of Irene M. Babbitt written on the inside along with the date of June 1962. Since I bought the Bible in the Yucaipa area, I thought this Irene might be the correct one. I felt obligated to return it to her but if she is the right Irene than I won't be able to. Do you have any other records on family members besides her also deceased sister? Thank you.

RE: John Newlove Atkinson #46901866
That is so sad, especially after 75 years of my father not knowing whom his father was. I understand "rules are rules." Thank you for responding.

The only children on the census would have been from the 20's. They had 6, 2 twins died at birth. Your records don't show all the children that those two had.

We found out through DNA testing because we recently found out that Phil's father (Beeton) was NOT his biological father.

John Newlove Atkinson got my grandmother pregnant while he lived in Denver in the late 1930's while married to his second wife.

John Newlove Atkinson wanted nothing to do with any of his children.

Would it be possible to transfer Wendy Brown's Find a Grave memorial to me. I have known Wendy nearly all my life. I grew up in Yucapia with Wendy, and then several years later after we were both married Wendy was my neighbor who lived across the street from me. Our children grew up together. She was an amazing person and a dear friend. My Find a Grave member number is 47470754 and I am under the name Fendigrl1217.
