Updated December 16, 2016|
Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (ALNC), Elwood, Will Co., Illinois...
The following are the active burial sections at ALNC. These sections were opened for interments on the dates listed...
Active section(s) for Cremated Remains:
1) Section 12, opened October 2012
2) Columbarium 7 Wall 26, opened December 2016
Active section(s) for Casketed Remains:
1) Section 17, opened December 2016
When the gravesites in the above section/walls are made presentable with sod and engraved marker stones or niche covers, I'll upload gravesite photographs for these Sections without the need for photo requests.
Note: Please refrain from requesting a photograph until after the professional grounds-keepers have had time to engrave and install marker stones (or niche covers), lay sod, and generally make the gravesites presentable. If I have not uploaded a photo by the 4-month mark, please do request a photo.
Thank you for your patience.
Read This BEFORE Uploading Photos...
I shouldn't have to ask, however, with the rapid proliferation of reckless "cell-phone photography" it has become necessary for me put in text what I think should be obvious...
Please do NOT upload gravesite photographs if they...
1) were taken at an impossible angle, or
2) show bird poop on the stone, or
3) have spiders, other insects in the frame, or
4) have grass clippings, mud or debris on the stone, or
5) have your shadow/reflection or kids or your car in the frame, or
6) show the stone is wet from sprinklers or has raindrops or other water spots on the stone, or
7) have people, pets or other crap in the background, or
8) have flowers or other debris blocking or making it difficult to read the ENTIRE engraved text, or
9) show the gravesite in any other "not ready for primetime" condition (for example: dead or rotting cut-flowers, open pit, plywood covers, shovels, other tools or construction equipment or the groundkeepers or other workers in the frame), or
10) were taken upside-down and then rotated right-side-up without correcting the perspective. These photos make people nauseous and give them a feeling of falling while looking at the picture!
In short, take pride in your work! Don't place a gravesite photo on one of my memorial pages that you would NOT be proud to show your family if you had placed it on one of your own relative's memorial pages.
Thank you for your consideration. I'm sure that the families of the deceased appreciate your consideration, also.
Information - where it belongs...
Biographical information belongs in the "bio" field or in other text fields on the MAIN memorial page.
Please do NOT post pictures of text to any of my memorial pages (Example: Do NOT post pictures of; obituaries, death notices, news paper articles, death certificates, remembrance cards, etc.).
Also, do NOT post biographical information in the Flowers section. This too, belongs in the appropriate text fields on the main page.
Forward the information using the "Edit" tab and appropriate link. I'll ensure it is added to the memorial page in a prompt, accurate and professional manner.
Do NOT post non-photograph graphics to the photo section (such as military emblems, membership emblems, flags, candles, etc). These types of graphics waste the 5 free "photo" slots provided by findagrave.com.
Family members should NOT have to sponsor a memorial page (cost $5.00) in order to upload a favorite picture simply because someone uploaded a non-photograph graphic or a picture of text to the photos section of the memorial page.
Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This does not include Cousins, Aunts or Uncles. Nor does it include your neighbor or BFF.
You need not ask for a transfer if your "Contributions to Find A Grave" on your profile page shows an insignificant effort at "Pay-it-forward."
"The goal at Find A Grave should NOT be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."

Please respect my photographs, they are for your personal use only. Do NOT attempt to sell them, or otherwise attempt to profit from their use without written permission.
For example: Do NOT charge your relatives a "handling fee" or "re-imbursement fee" or "printing fee" to obtain a copy of your family tree if it contains one of my photographs.
In summary, do NOT take credit for any photograph that you did not physically take yourself.
I graduated from Freeport Area High School, PA in 1971 and spent the next year at a technical college in Columbus, OH.
I received my physical notice from the draft board in the spring of 1972 and in August that year I followed in my father's foot steps, joining the US Navy (he put in 24 years before retiring as a CTCM in 1969). I spent 8 years as a submarine qualified nuclear electrician on both Fast Attack and Ballistic Missile Submarines. In October 1980 I was honorably discharged as an EM1(SS).
I spent the next 28 years working in the civilian nuclear power industry in both Ohio and Illinois. Most of that time in the training department as a Senior Reactor Operator License Training Instructor for both Intitial and Continuing training students.
I retired in August of 2008 after 36 years working in the nuclear power field.
Currently, I am still retired and live in north-central Illinois, within 2 miles of the intersection of I-80 and I-55.
I enjoy researching my family tree (9,000+ and growing). My father's family is from Allegheny and Armstrong counties in western Pennsylvania. My mother's family is from Charles County, in southern Maryland.
My family has limbs, branches, and roots that stretch across the United States. Most however, settled in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and California.
I enjoy taking cemetery, historical site, and other photographs. I am willing to assist with reasonable gravesite and non-gravesite photo requests; I will also consider the unreasonable requests.

Just wondering if you would be so kind as to transfer the ownership of my wife's Grandmothers memorial page (#72378994) so that I may update them and connect her memorial page to her husbands and sons? Thanks in advance.

and I am copying you...
Thanks for the heads up...years ago, I found that the folks on Find A Grave were really friendly and wouldn't mind offering up additional info. Kinda like: Hey, Bob is buried in Sunshine cemetery...you move him and i'll add a photo. Nowadays, I find that folks will ignore the original authors efforts, deliberately create a duplicate and then some soul comes along and finds them both. I know what the RULES say, but common courtesy has been lost. The rules are not carved in granite, but if one is keen on numbers...then the win...
Thank you for up dating the photo of Carl and Alice Kasten's plaque. It is appreciated. Thank you Diane

|PJD||RE: Philip John Dziuk|
I don't think the transfer ever took place as I was trying to update the memorial section of the page. Could you please check and let me know if the transfer took place? Or should I contact someone else?
RE: Philip John Dziuk
Welcome to findagrave.com.
Looks like you sponsored the memorial page that I created for Mr Dziuk.
I've asked the findagrave.com staff to merge our two memorial pages. I reminded them to keep the sponsorship and pictures from both memorial pages.
I also asked them to transfer maintenance control of the original (my memorial) to you. That will give you control of all text fields and family links. You will be able to edit the page without going through me. The only thing you will not be able to do is delete the memorial page. That's because you did not create it.
After they have taken actions on my request, you will receive an e-mail from findagrave.com (return address "no-reply") telling you that the memorial page has been transferred to you. If you do not see these changes within the next several days, please let me know and I check into the delay.
Have another great day,
