Updated July 21, 2014|
Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (ALNC)...
The following Sections are the currently active burial sections (opened for interments on the dates listed):
Section 11, August 2012
Section 12, October 2012
Section 6B, November 2012
Section 14, June 2013
Columbarium 7, Wall 1, April 2014
Columbarium 7, Walls 2 & 3, July 2014
I'll upload grave-site photographs for these Sections without the need for photo requests.
Note: Please refrain from requesting a photograph until at least 4 months after interment to allow the professional grounds-keepers time to engrave and install marker stones (or niche covers), lay sod, and generally make the gravesites presentable for photographing. If I have not uploaded a photo by by the 4 month mark, please do request a photo.
July 2014 - For the last several months the cemetery has been working diligently to re-sod ALL of Section 5 and Section 8. This includes raising the hight and leveling of all 6,000 marker stones, removeing the old grass/weeds, leveling the ground with good black dirt and laying sod. Then it will need watered for several weeks before those sections are ready to be photographed. They are raising and leveling the stones in Section 7 now, so I suspect they will be doing the sod think there next.
Thank you for your patience.

Biographical information belongs in the "bio" field or in other text fields on the MAIN memorial page.
Please do NOT post pictures of text to any of my memorial pages (Example: Do NOT post pictures of; obituaries, death notices, news paper articles, death certificates, remembrance cards, etc.).
Also, do NOT post biographical information in the Flowers section. This too, belongs in the appropriate text fields on the main page.
Forward the information using the "Edit" tab and appropriate link. I'll ensure it is added to the memorial page in a prompt, accurate and professional manner.
Do NOT post non-photograph graphics to the photo section (such as military emblems, membership emblems, flags, candles, etc). These types of graphics waste the 5 free "photo" slots provided by findagrave.com.
Family members should NOT have to sponsor a memorial page (cost $5.00) in order for them to upload a favorite picture simply because someone uploaded a non-photograph graphic or a picture of text to the photos section of the memorial page.
Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This does not include Cousins, Aunts or Uncles. Nor does it include your neighbor or BFF.
"The goal at Find A Grave should NOT be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."

Please respect my photographs, they are for your personal use only. Do NOT copy them to this or any other internet website; do NOT sell them, or otherwise attempt to profit from their use without written permission.
For example: Do NOT charge your relatives a "handling" or "printing" fee to obtain a copy of your family tree if it contains one of my photographs.
In summary, do NOT take credit for any photograph that you did not physically take yourself.
I live in north-central Illinois, within 2 miles of the intersection of I-80 and I-55. I enjoy researching my family tree (9,000+ and growing).
My father's family is from Allegheny and Armstrong counties in western Pennsylvania. My mother's family is from Charles County, in southern Maryland.
We have limbs, branches, and roots that stretch across the United States. Most however, settled in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and California.
I enjoy taking cemetery, historical site, and other photographs. I am willing to assist with reasonable gravesite and non-gravesite photo requests; I will also consider the unreasonable requests.

Hello. It looks like someone vandalized one of the pictures they added to Ture's memorial.
|Chris Worthington||Ronald L Dorer|
Would you be willing to transfer this memorial to me? Mr. Dorer was my uncle, the older brother of my mom. I appreciate your consideration.

Good Morning J
I just put an edit request to attach her spouse. I noticed you are maintaining the memorial. Are you related? Just wondering there is a photo request that I claimed. I also knew her and her husband. I took care of him when he was bed ridden in his last days and helped her with the household chores. She did not want to put him in a nursing home but needed help to keep him home :)

Hello -- You have written a grave entry for John Wrana, born in 1917, and there is second record for John written by a different individual. Can these two be reconciled and/or joined together?
Thank you very much. I appreciate your work.
|Brenda T.||Eddie Tramel|
My name is Brenda Tramel and Eddie Sr. is my father-in-law.
I have started to manage several of my husband's family because I have been doing the research on them, and it seemed that the listings where managed by people that just like to take pictures. I have taken a great deal of family tombstones and started checking to see if they are already listed. If you would be willing, I would like to manage Eddie's also.
Thank you for updating the info I sent and for a job well done on his listing.
God bless, Brenda

Thank you for all the work you do on here, the way you honor our veterans and your willingness to work with me; answer my questions and your generous spirit of cooperation.
I agree with you regarding periods, for different reasons - mainly, it interferes with the search function. But just recently, they added the rule to the FAQ's - and I quote, "A period should be used after names where only an initial is known."
I will never send an edit request to add a period only but if I'm correcting one of the name fields anyway, I thought - what the heck?
All that being said, and to quote Humphrey Bogart, "It don't amount to a hill of beans." lol I wouldn't expect you or anyone to check each and every memorial for something as insignificant as a period after an initial. I have 1/10th the memorials that you do and I wouldn't do it for love nor money.
If you don't like them, I'll do my best not to send them, I have no problems with that. If I do forget, a decline message doesn't upset me at all. Most of us follow most of the rules; we do our best to understand and interpret the rest and we do a damn fine job of it too. Who knows when the powers that be will change the rule - again.
(I'm tired so...) I can't remember if I told you I've set myself a project and have gotten the download of all of Calverton. I'm just now beginning to check for dupes so you may/probably will see an increase in edits from me trying to make corrections.
Thanks again for always being a pleasure to work with and you are more than welcome to whine here at any time.
