Since February 2012 a group of us have been working on a project to photograph entire sections in Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California. Progress on this project is updated frequently below. As we add photos we use them to correct memorials and link to family members or send requests to have the memorials corrected or updated. We add new memorials to this cemetery based on these photographs and on the National Gravesite Locator website for this cemetery. I also merge duplicate memorials.|
FAG members Samme Templin, Theresa Miller, Christine S., and Cindy S. are helping to post the photos.
FAG contributor Stewart Blandon is working on Section 2E.
FAG contributor Kathleen Clemence is working on Section R.
FAG contributor Christine and Winmar finished photographing and posting photos from Section MA.
Please join us!! I estimate that we have posted at least 30% of the photos in the cemetery, and are posting nearly 1400 photos every week. It's a big job and we could use your help!
Please contact me if you are willing to help this project by either uploading photographs that I have taken, or by photographing other sections.
Please contact me if you have a better photograph of a headstone for a memorial (e.g., with better lighting), and I will be happy to remove my photo from the memorial. [Over time I've learned the hard way the right times of day to photograph markers in the cemetery to get the best lighting, usually in the afternoon.]

Thank you for adding the location/plot identification for Clyde, along with such a clear and professional-like photo. Your care and kindness is very appreciated.

Thank you so much for the great shot of his marker. Your hard work is appreciated.
|Audrey Arnold||Beautiful photo|
Regarding John Andrew Rowan buried at San Bruno. I want to thank you so very much for the clear image in the photograph that you took of my uncle's gravesite.
I never met him and I've not yet got to visit that area of California, though I hope to visit in October of this year.
I am currently working on a similar project using old family photos to post to those gravesites I can locate of passed members. My mother passed away and left me with boxes of photos (joy).
But what a wonderful project you're involved in. Thank you so much for this inspiration. And, please, thank the rest of your team of photographers for me.
Peace, Audrey Arnold (Pena)

You are very welcome. I think the endeavor of having pics for all the tombstones is great. I haven't been spending a lot of time taking pics, but when I can I enjoy helping.

I was happy that I could fill your request. Yes the markers are very simple and took me a couple scans of that section of the cemetery before I found them....

Thank you so much for the great photos!

Thanks for the picture of his grave stone Tom. Although I never met Alfred, I'm quite sure he was my great uncle born in Brockton, MA in 1901.
