Please do NOT hesitate to contact me if you wish that a family member's memorial be removed. I understand that the resting places of loved ones are very special and personal. My intention to create these memorials is to share and hopefully help those who are seeking out burials for either family research or for viewing family markers. Personally, I have a memorial set up for my father and I don't have it in me to add a picture of his gravestone. Just too final I guess. I have special pictures of him up for family to see. If someone else were to add a picture of his tombstone I would prob. ask that they take it down. This is very personal to me. So I understand how someone might feel about this...I totally respect your request and understand completely.

This is a picture of my son who had accompanied me on one of many trips to old cemeteries in the area. He's leaning against a tombstone of a fellow who died almost 200 years ago! I had taken a rubbing of this stone when I was my son's age....Still have the rubbing!!! Stored away for safe keeping. Someday maybe someone will contact me asking about the tombstone...I can't even get a good picture of it anymore, it's leaned over so far!

This is a big reason why I like going around these old cemeteries....taking pictures of the old preserve a bit of the past...or should I say...monuments to the memory of the people of the past...before they slip away....crumble into so many already have...

I ask that the images which i have worked VERY HARD to capture NOT be copied and published to another websight without my permission. Images are not allowed to be copied for publication and resale. Personal use for family genealogy is fine but it's always nice to be asked and credited. This is a simple thing to do and goes along way to make me feel that i'm doing something good for others.

Nothing bothers me more than to come across a photo that i have taken and find someone else's name underneith and/or no credit given at all for my work.

I also ask that any picture attached by others to my memorial pages be of a respectful nature to the person being memorialized as well as being respectful to family and friends. It's not an ARTSHOW either. No over the top "creativity".

This site is not meant to be for a competition to see who creates the most memorials. Not a race to see who gets to the cemetery first to get that shot. Not meant to be for those who strive for quantity and NOT quality.

This site is for those of us who enjoy taking that stroll through a cemetery and seeing beyond the gravestones to the people being remembered. More important for those who would like to "FINDAGRAVE" and be so thrilled and thankful for doing so.

An Epitath taken from a Civil War Soldier's gravestone......

In the night a bright wing fluttered oer the tent in which he lay. In his ear a soft voice uttered...Soldier rise and come away"

RE: George Kaffick memorial #26149136
Thanks for your response. I was rereading your bio and a couple of things struck me that I have often thought about. The first being the addition to or creation of memorial info for members of families who would prefer their loved one isn't on Find A Grave or whose grave photo they may not want posted. I have put my grandparents and beyond on there but don't know how I would feel having my parents on there (fortunately they are both alive, but you get my drift). My best friend's daughter died 16 years ago at the age of 15 and, although I wouldn't mind if she was memorialized, I just can't bring myself to do it. The second thing is that taking volunteer photos is NOT a competition (although I will admit that I cleaned one stone up very well only to get home and find someone else had photographed it after I did so and posted it before I got home which irked me a tad - but at least they took a good photo!). Point being, just because we 'volunteer' to do this, I think it's important to make the stones as presentable as possible and take the time to edit them to look as nice as possible for requested as well as non-requested photos. In any case, you have inspired me to fine tune my bio. Thanks again.

George Kaffick memorial #26149136
Sorry, Donna. I'm not a complete buffoon ... my computer is not cooperating (which is why you have received 2 blank messages), so I will try this again. I was at Alexander Village Cemetery this morning, randomly taking photos. I took some of George's headstone and posted them this evening. Don't like to step on any toes but the lighting was good and I thought they turned out pretty well. My question ... you created 2 memorials for George since you wanted to be able to show the detailed work. Can you add his death date to the second one which is "unknown" currently? It might be a help to those who actually have him in their family tree. Thanks.

Ebenezer Witter Photo
Sorry - started a message but hit the wrong key!
With your permission I would like to copy the photo of Ebenezer Witter taken at Lagrange Cemetery. Ebenezer is my 3X great Grandfather. I have a copy from a book that is not as sharp as your photo. The grandson of Ebenezer was a Civil War Vet. The photo would be put in family history files - no internet posting. Thanks for your consideration. Lanny Witter

Hi Donna,

You took entrance photos to this cemetery in Mount Morris, NY. Can you tell me how to get there?

RE: MACK Memorials
Thanks Donna. I am currently adding information to the family tree and need to get to a few cemeteries around again.
