Bio and Links
Bio Photo My interest in cemetery transcriptions started with discovering my family history. The first cemetery I entered was Mount Olivet Cemetery on Frederick Rd located within Baltimore City, my mother's side, Durham, is buried there. I entered the Military at a very young age,17. I was stationed Futenma Marine Corps Air Station Okinawa, Japan, during the Saigon Evacuation. I joined the Marine Corps 9/72 and my service ended 6/76. After leaving the military I used the GI Bill to attend school finishing in 1987, majored in Business with a minor in IT. Some of the Surnames in my research include:

Bell, Beall, Birnie, Bowie, Bourne, Boutte, Broussard, Chesley, Clagett, de laHoussaye, Douglas, Dugas, Duffield, Harry, Key, Langla, Love, Provost, Scott, Syester, Williams just to name a few.

Hi James,

I'm not sure if the gravestone was buried in the ground or not. I do know Nancy did dig several gravestones up at the Brunswick City Cemetery. Then she cleaned them. They are very heavy to work with.

You would have to hire someone that works with gravestones to set it up for you. It would have to be set on a base.

I'm not even able to lift them anymore.

Sorry I can't help you.

Have a great day.

RE: Gertrude M. Harry
There are no other "Harry" surnames at Gridley/Biggs in Find A Grave. However, the following Harry surnames show up on the database for G/B Cemetery, but I do not know if they are related:

Harry, Alvin L. 06/17/1969
Harry, Festus Omega 05/18/1960
Harry, Gertrude M. 00/00/1925
Harry, Vera V. 08/02/1968

You can link into the G/B burials (by surname, alpha and date) by going to Burials on the Web at:

Good luck in your further searching.

Good, Glade that you located the cemetery. I did not know for sure whether it was before or after the gate. If you come in to take pictures don,t forget to take a couple of pictures of two street signs, Harry St and Hale St. I guess named after Calvin Harry and Mary Hale. take care F. Hyltion

I've gone up the road looking for it on two different occasions. For the life of me I have not been able to locate it. My next step is to visit funeral homes listed in obituaries to see if they can give me an exact location. Do you have any ideas?

Sorry, Didn't know which Harry Cemetery you was looking for. you got the right one. I been trying to photograph the cemetery but the road has been blocked off. Now it looks like a farm in there. So i would say you would have to have permission to get up to it. F. Hylton

Hi James, I think you still have the wrong Harry Cem. Find A Grave shows two in Mercer Co Wv both has a map. The one you list shows it off of old Bramwell Rd. The other one shows it being in Green Valley. F. Hylton

Harry Cemetery - Mercer Co., WV
Hi, James,
I've noticed that the interments have been removed from this cemetery. (?) This Harry Cemetery is located at latitude 37.309048, longitude -81.115365. It is 2 miles SW of Glenwood (probably east of Green Valley?). To get to it, go east on Clover Dew Dairy Road. Just before Stone Mt. Drive diverges to the left, the cemetery is on your right in a patch of woods behind a cleared field. There are many family cemeteries in Mercer County - probably where the families had farms. Good luck!
