Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a seventy-five year old retired USAF fighter pilot living in Millville, Utah who has been doing genealogy research for thirty years. It all started in 1981, with a hand typed 6" x 9" 3 ring binder, provided to my father by Edna Emily Reh (Helfer) Hillard, containing information on less than 100 people. It has evolved to over 6,000 ancestors and relatives.

Find A Grave allows me to provide my relatives with a little genealogy along with photos so they can better relate to their ancestors. My line of ancestors is indicated by • Name •. My earliest know Hillard ancestor is • Guy H. Hillard • .

I get a lot of satisfaction providing additional information for those in other parts of the country. It is my way of returning the favors everybody has and is doing for me.

I have extensive records for the Hillard family and their associated branches which I will gladly provide to anyone who would like the information.

If you find any errors, or have additional information for any of my memorials, please notify me. If you have better or additional photos, please upload them to the memorial or email them to me.

Please feel free to use any of the photos that I have posted on FAG. A credit would be nice, but is not required.

James T. Pantier
I would like to find out if you would connect James Taylor Pantier (74320466) b. 9 Jan 1865 to his parents James Taylor Pantier (31883452) and Catherine R. Houghton (2864515) and the first James listed above to his wife Eva (74320467)
I am not connected to this family, but a friend of mine that I am helping is.
Thank you for your time.

Lee,

You are so welcome. I was deeply touched by the inscription...she was obviously very loved. Are you her son?

Blessings!

RE: Leah Jane Butterbaugh
Hi Lee,

Thanks for the reply. Leah was only married twice, once to Albert and then to Peter Painter. She was never married to William Rupert, although she lived with him and they had three children. On the 1880 and 1900 census she calls herself Leah Sanders, and when she married Peter she is Leah Sanders and states she was once previously married and her former husband 'died' in 1872. In 1880 when she is living with Rupert, she is Leah Saunders and is divorced. Albert and Leah were only married for one week, and then he sued for divorce. The petition is a riot to read. He claimed he was drunk for a week, and when he sobered up he found himself married to her. He called her 'an abandoned woman who has had three children without ever having been married'. That was in 1872, so I do know that the three children listed on the 1870 census are indeed hers. The youngest one was named Albert (b. Dec. 1869) and since she managed to snag Albert Sanders (albeit briefly) shortly after his first divorce, I am pretty certain that he was the father of her son. In 1867-1869 Albert was married and was involved with at least two other women (one was my gr. gr grandmother, whom he carried on a three year affair with before and during his marriage). It took me a long time to track down what happened to Leah after 1870, and I am eager to see which of her first three children survived. I've had no luck finding any of them on the census after 1870, but in 1900 she states she had 6 children, 4 living. Her Rupert children account for three of those. The one tree I've seen online which is not mine has a number of errors. The William Rubert she lived with was not the son, but the father, a widower twenty years her senior.

Peter Dunkel Painter
Hello Lee,

I note that you have a fair amount of info about Peter, his first wife and children. Are you related to him? I am trying to get info on his second wife, Leah Jane Butterbaugh and her children. Leah was survived by four children: Colonel Roy and David F. Rupert and Florence (Rupert) Carr, and one other child, unknown. These would be Peter's stepchildren, so was hoping you might have more info, perhaps an obituary or two. I am trying to determine which of Leah's other three children survived her. Their names were Alice, William and Albert Butterbaugh. I am pretty certain that Albert died young, but one of the other two was living in 1900; dunno which one.

Any info you might have would be appreciated.

Would also love to know where Leah is buried. She died in 1918.

Ungewitter Updates
Thanks so much for the info and it has been added and links. Let me know if anything needs attention. A sad but very interesting story. I just finished last evening adding the final few photo that we had taken from Sebastopol Cemetery. It has been gratifying to know that several new listings there have been found already and info and additions sent for them. You have done a great job on the connected memorials which I took a peek at. Cashie

Thank you so much for the update--and so quickly too--you made my morning! I will make the proper notations in my records about which Anna is which! Love to see the faces with the names--gives one a better connection and understanding (don't you think?)--so what you are doing is so very much appreciated.

Pat :)

Ginny Muetzel
Thank you so much for creating this lovely page of my step-mother, Ginny Muetzel. She lost her husband Tom in 1972 when his F4 went down on a night mission during the Vietnam War. She had 2 small children to raise. At 39 she married my dad and took on 5 step-children. 7 kids 10 years apart. Amazing, funny, courageous, creative, and caring person.

Harvey J. Shaw, Arkadelphia, AR
Thank you so much for your contribution to my husband's memorial in "Find a Grave"; just wish I had learned about it earlier. Would be interested to know how you knew Harvey and when were you last with him? Agree with you, he was a fine, kind-spirited person and never knew him to have an enemy. Was very blessed to share just short of 10 yrs. and father my 2 children, Stacey Nielson, Frederick, MD; and son, Steve Shaw, Los Angeles,CA while at Vance AFB, Enid, Okla. In correction, he was a Captain upon leaving the AF in 1969; also was based in Ca Mau while in Viet Nam. I greatly appreciate you giving me and my family this memorial. Would love to hear from you and others acquainted with Harvey.
