New Hoy Family Member: I would Love for you to Visit my new memorial for John "Doc" Hoy and leave a floral tribute. I found his very sad story in an Omaha Newspaper from April 1899. I have no idea what Hoy family he actually belongs to, but have adopted him to mine, nevertheless.

|Suzzy Thomas||Nate Kinnison|
Hi Kathy. I see that you created the memorial for Lawrence Kinnison, a War of 1812 Veteran at the Lafayette Cemetery near Brock. Next to him is a mortuary marker set in concrete with a Veteran's flag holder for a Nate Kennison (possible misspelling of Kinnison). Do you have any information whatsoever on Nate Kinnison? The dates have disappeared from his mortuary marker. I would like to see about getting him a Veteran's Stone. No person who has ever served their country should like in an unmarked grave. I need at least dates to try and start this process by searching for newspaper obituary. Any help would be appreciated. Stop by if you get back to Nemaha County any time this summer!! Thanks!

Hi Kathy! I'm still looking for the record I found indicating Jacob's mother was Catherine Brindle. But, I'm seeing there are several Jacob's who were married to Susan's in the same age group, so i most likely grabbed the wrong Jacob. I did find in the 1880 Census Jacob indicated both of his parents are from Penn, but I know location info in Census docs is not always accurate. And your death record trumps everything anyway :)
Some folks like to get doc links to verify info and others don't, so I typically don't provide them right off. Thank you for making me double check before updating this Memorial.

The marker for Harry is at one end of that section where there are many single graves, some with markers and some without. I did not see a general marker identifying it as a particular organization or church, but it reminded me of that type of area.
Cecelia's grave is at the other end of that same section, buried with Sophia Marie Crawford. I was unable to locate a marker. But it was hot and we left because there was a funeral starting nearby. I may have overlooked it, so I didn't mark her request with "problem". Perhaps another volunteer can find her.

Hi Kathy. I have been in contact with David Mayo. He took the photo of Thomas Miller's stone at Corinth National Cemetery. I thought it might be a good idea to put it on his Sheridan Cemetery page also, as he is truly actually buried at Corinth and the Sheridan stone is just a cenotaph. I am going to go ahead and put it on his page Mr. Mayo gave me permission to use the photo in any way that I would like. I hope this is ok If not, you can delete it. Hope to see you if you get back this way any time soon! Suzzy Thomas
