I have transcribed alot of records in the Eldon Cemetery (Wapello Co. Iowa). |
If you have more info on any of these & would like me to transfer them to you let me know.
I did this so families could connect with each other.
I always like it when someone does this for me!!!

|Bob Bardo||RE: Glen & Marcella Dye|
Can you please also add the photo of Glen Dye and Marcella Dye that is on Marcella's memorial to Glen's Find A Grave Memorial # 104078822 ?
|Michael Shaug||Bennett Stoy Shaug|
My name Is Michael D. Shaug and I am writing to you to submit some additional information about Dr. Bennett S. Shaug you might want to add to the find-grave listing that I have come across in my research... Bennett was the son of Dr. William Henry and Hannah Sherwood Shaug... Hannah was a descendant of William Bradford of Plymouth Colony. Bennett was one of 16 children (that lived past infancy) and in addition to being a Civil War veteran, he also served in the Mexican War (I have his records from National Archives). He was married to Mary J. Shaug who is also buried in Eldon Cemetery, as is his father William Henry Shaug (who was a War of 1812 veteran and also a doctor. Bennett was a well know doctor there in Iowa for many years, and I have a copy of his obituary. His brothers included Dr. Charles W. Shaug (my 3 great grandfathers) who went west in 1852 on Overland Trail to Oregon, and who later died in Santa Maria, California in 1871, Henry Leedham Shaug who also went to CA, and William Bradford Shaug who was also a Civil War veteran serving in a California regiment. The Shaug family started out originally in Pennsylvania in 1700's, then migrated to western Virginia, Ohio, then on to Iowa in 1840's... some of the brothers then moved on to California (and a sister or two as well), while Bennett and Mary stayed in Iowa. Bennett's middle name came from his grandmother's maiden name... she was Elizabeth Stoy, who was a daughter of a famous doctor in Rev. War times in Lancaster, Pa (his house is a museum there)... If you would like more info., please let me know, I can send you what I have on the Shaug family, and on Bennett. I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you.
Michael D. Shaug
Maude Adams, married to Gim Adams, had a daughter (my grandmother) Jessie that recently passed. Please add her to great grandma's records. Thank you.
Lester C Vannoy. You have his name showing as John Lester C Vannoy. Tombstone does not show the John and any records I find on him does not show the John. What proof do you have the name John for him? Thanks Lorraine Jewell (his 2nd Cousin)

I would like to get a picture of the grave of Sydney and Honora McClung. She was the daughter of Patrick and Caroline Holland who are also buried at Eldon & I have that photo. Is it possible to get a picture?

OK! His sister has given me some articles for the memorial and I think that would be easier.
Thanks, David Steele

Hi Craig's sister has given me a bio for him. What is the easiest way to add it?
