Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired high school history teacher, having taught in the public schools of St. Mary's County, Maryland. I am a native of Huntington, Suffolk County, New York.

I have been interested in visiting old cemeteries since I was a child, when cemetery visiting was a family activity.

I began a project during the American Revolution Bicentennial to update the cemetery lists held by the St. Mary's County Historical Society, Leonardtown, MD. This project, using high school students, extended into the early 1980s. Some cemetery lists were published in the "Maryland-Delaware Genealogist."

I worked with the GenExchange Project adding cemetery data from both Long Island, New York, and Calvert and St. Mary's counties in Southern Maryland. I have also worked with the longislandgenealogy.com site.

I am editor of the "Generator," the quarterly publication of the St. Mary's County Genealogical Society and am also 2nd Vice President of that organization.

Currently, I'm a member of the Sgt. James H. Harris Camp #38, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. We are now in a project to identify & mark graves of the unknown Union soldiers in St. Mary's & Calvert counties.

Thank you for all your work in maintaining these sites. The Find A Grave sites have been so helpful to me in my family research. I love being able to "reunite" families online.
Best,
Anne

Anna Smith Platt Memorial# 23998718
David -- If the headstone for Anna says she died in her 73 yr in 1782, then she would have had to be born in 1709 and not 1717. I know the Smith Book for 10 generations lists Anna as born 14 April 1717, but that or her headstone is wrong. I don't know which.

Also, Anna's parents were Job Smith and Dorothy Woodhull - not Platt. Perhaps you can correct that. Thank you for all you are doing. Elizabeth Smith Radley

William H. Wade resting place
Dave, we had the help of a very diligent cotributor named Cymburleigh. She went to the cemetery itself and looked through there records. She found that William H. had been originally buried at Huntington Rural with his parents on 8 Feb 1897 then moved to be with his wife on 29 Apr 1914 to Amityville cem.
So the William are the same and I will have to keep looking for my friend's William H. Wade elsewhere.
Do you want me to send the managership for this one back to you or should I delete it and ask GLENN the manager of the Amityville site to add the information that I have? Or should I just keep it?

Hi,

I noticed that you had posted some information about people buried at St. John's Church. I am trying to document the Abell, Wible, Wilkinson, Clarke and Greenwell families that are buried there. I currently serve as the membership chair for the Maryland Society of the Sons of the Revolution and the Society of the War of 1812.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you.

RE: Jason Ford
From another tree on ancestry.com (she's not a direct relative so I'm not tracking her ancestry), her father was James Clarence Clarke 1886-1963 and her mother was Olive Cullison 1894-1963.

HTH!

RE: Jason Ford - St. John's, Hollywood, Md.
I'm not sure what you want. His parents were William "Wiley" Ford & Laura Sowders Ford. You already have a link to the father. Laura died 02 Jan 1969 in Harlan County, KY, USA. However, I haven't been able to find cemetery information.

His wife was Wilhelmina Elizabeth Clarke. She is sharing his tombstone and you have a link for her.

His middle name was Ernest.

He had 7 siblings that I have been able to prove. Him and Wilhelmina had 2 sons that I have been able to prove. One, Paul, died at birth (22 Dec 1949). The other, Kevin, lived for about 6 months--27 Dec 1956 to Jun 1957. I don't know if they had any other children.

I have more information on parents, siblings, grandparents--what would you like to know?
