Mayflower Connection: I descend from the following |
Degory Priest, Francis Eaton, John Alden,Priscilla Mullins, Myles Standish, Peter Brown, Francis Cooke, George Soule, Isaac Allerton, Richard Warren, through my father, Member 27436, Society of Mayflower Descendants.
My uncle, Carl Glee Smith Jr is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in the Philippines. His life was lost during Typhoon Cobra, December 18, 1944 when three ships went down, USS Hull, USS Monaghan and his ship the USS Spence. I have attempted to leave notes at each of the memorials for the 793 sailors who lost their lives that day. I also see many other memorials that no one has left flowers or honored them, I am also honoring those as I have time. There are over 44,033 memorials at that cemetery. May God bless the thousands of families who suffered loss during WW II.
I am attempting to link many of Smith burials in an effort to help those who are just starting their family search venture. Descending from four Smith branches is a challenge. At the present time, I am linking Smiths from several states from Vermont, New York,Ohio to Illinois, Nebraska and Kansas. From Virginia through Kentucky to Arkansas. From Georgia, Arkansas to Texas.
In addition, I am documenting my Jones from New Hampshire, through Ohio, Illinois to Nebraska.
A few of my family lines are Blatherwick, Farrow, Gilbert, Wood, Kelsey, Evans, Blake, Cady, Watkins, Stewart, McCormick, Jones, Stiles, McDermott, Hoffman, Smith, Black, Brazle, Roth, Martin, Cole, Morgan, Oswalt
If you use my personal photos, please give me credit for the photo, this includes family photos posted as well as cemetery photos. Thank you.
I will consifer transferring memorials that are your direct family, but not my family line. I am not into numbers and am happy to share my work. I love to link family members and to know a bit about the person.

You have a flower on this William Ellis...turns out the sites database was off when this one was entered and he did not die in Typhoon Cobra on Dec 18, 1944. Figured you would like to know.
Thank you for the flower on Venron Stromberg there.

Hi Vickye, I see that you left a flower for memorial 86806211 (Mattie Mae Johnson Price) in the Sand Grove Cemetery in Milam County, Texas. Are you related? Thanks.

If you could contact Forest Park Cemetery (Lawndale) in Houston (Harris County) and ask for plot location for Claude Blatherwick Sr. I would be happy to go there and take a picture...There are hundreds and hundreds of photo requests for that cemetery... and the cemetery itself is acres and acres...it would be a great help. Barbara Griswold...also I saw your name when looking at the Calk family...William Matthew Calk is my great great grandmother's father. I wondered what relations you might have to the Calk family of Texas...thanks
|James Richards||Glenna Goodman|
Hi, I posted the headstone pic for Dallie Goodman you requested (today was a great day to go for a drive and take some headstone pics). I am also sending you some changes for his wife Glenna Goodman, in Howe Valley Cemetery. One might look unusual, her maiden name was Goodman. She was the daughter of William and Rosie Goodman (I think this William is buried in Elizabethtown Cemetery and is listed in FindaGrave, but I did not make the link because I cannot be certain). Also, the Indiana marriage register shows she was born on February 20, 1904, not 1908 as the headstone shows. I wonder if she was actually 14 at the time of her marriage. So, I recommended her birth date be changed to Feb 20, 1908. Her husband's date on the marriage license is also off, it makes him look like he's two years older, 20, than the headstone shows. The license is visible in FamilySearch.org.

Thank you! Merry Christmas.

Chester Leon Maddon is my father's brother, who I knew very well. I stayed with his wife, Cleo, when he was out with his quarter horses. His Mare, Bright Eyes was the World's Champion Quarter horse.
Cleo stayed home and held down the fort--haying, raising children and so on. I am Ruth Kay Maddon Pickle. My genealogy is putting the family back together---so to speak. Would it be possible to transfer his memorial to me? Thank you for your consideration. Ruth
|Jerry W. Ferguson||Ruby Nell Swinford Lee|
I have deleted the memorial for Ruby Lee. Yell County Cemetery Records indicate Ernest Lee was buried in Briggsville Cemetery. That is why I had placed Ruby at the same cemetery. Sorry about my error.
