I have been blessed for the last four years to live with and care for my mother, who died in December of 2008. Living with her has been such a boon to my family history research. Mother was always willing to share her personal memories of growing up on Cook Hill with a large and loving family, as well as the collective memories passed down to her by the generations who came before her.
Many people found it surprising that someone like Mother, alive in 2008, could have a father who was born in 1869, almost 140 years ago. Her grandfather didn't fight in the Civil War because he was already too old. Those are the priceless family memories that she handed down to me to cherish.
The paternal lines I am researching at the present include the Jackson, Thomas, Henry, Meador, Pratt, Elliott, and Evans families.
The materal lines I am currently researching include the Self, Franklin, Grimes, Bass, Miles, Cook, Tomlin, and Kite families.
I want to express my appreciation for two women who share my feeling about the importance of family.
The first is my cousin, Easter Louise Tomlin Minto, who documented her family history long before the advent of databases and the internet. Hers was a labor of love, and her chef-d'œuvre, Descendants of William Patrick Tomlin and Ollie Kite, has been invaluable to me.
The second is Sarah Locklin Taylor, who lovingly documented the records of my Jackson family in Texas, and graciously transferred their records to me, because she knew I loved them. Thank you, Sarah, for the example you've set for me.
Lillie Edna Hazell Jackson Hello Jennifer. I'm Bj Gray-Turansky, a granddaughter of Elsie Hazell Hirt. A younger sister of Lillie. Do you have Information on the John Samuel Hazell Family? If so I'd like to talk with you via my email. firstname.lastname@example.org Or can you refer me to someone that might help me. Thank You
My name is Cynthia Anne Burgner and I am a Great-Great-Great-Great Granddaughter of Temperance and John Lewis Jackson, I live in Lakeland, Florida.
John Kirby C.S.A., is Bertie Cothron's (Jackson) Grandfather, (his son John Frank Jackson), her daughter is Loyce Burgner (Cothron), her son is Robert Earl Burgner, my Dad.
I was thrilled when I saw the ancestry tree on this site, I never had exact dates of Temperance and John Lewis. If I can help you carry this information further to MANY greats listed, please let me know, would love to hear from you.
Links on memorial pages How are you creating the clickable links on the memorial pages as on this one? http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Bauman&GSiman=1&GScid=1963246&GRid=51239702& Thanks,
RE: Andrew Jackson Kackson and Francis Asberry Jackson Hi Jennifer . . . thanks for the note . . . those numbers are for creating the findagrave "family links" that will then show up on the pages for the child and both parents . . . look on the left side where it shows Mariah as their child . . . click on that "edit" button and you will see the blanks for putting in the numbers for the parents . . . once those numbers have been added to all of the children then all of that family will be linked together . . . you can also go ahead and link the husband and wife together that same way . . . do let me know if that does not make sense . . .
Odessa, Lewis, and Freddy Do you happen to have any pictures of them that you could email me? My grand parents passed away before I was ever able to meet them. I have only seen 2 pictures of my grandfather and none of my grandmother. My father, Freddy, passed away when I was 6. I only have a handful of pictures of him. After his death, I was less than welcome at the family reunions, so I really don't know anyone.
Any pictures you have of them or anyone in the family, would be greatly appreciated.
