Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm a history/genealogy buff researching my Holcomb and Gossoo ancestors, among others. I have been intrigued by cemeteries ever since I was a kid. I began photographing gravestones when I was a high school student. Many photos of graves in Greene & Ulster County, NY taken over the years. Currently living in Western NY and filling photo requests in Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Steuben and Yates Counties. I am working on locating small abandoned cemeteries that are not yet listed on Find-a-Grave, and also graves of veterans from the French & Indian Wars, Revolutionary War, and War of 1812.

I am happy to transfer memorials or make corrections as needed; use the "Suggest a Correction" link found on the "Edit" tab of any of my memorials.

PLEASE NOTE: If I fill your photo request, I promise not to do any damage to your family member's gravestones. I will not use chalk, shaving cream, or any other potentially harmful methods to enhance the inscriptions.

"People will not look forward to posterity, who never look backward to their ancestors."
-- Edmund Burke (1729 - 1797)

As you visit these virtual graves, have you given any thought to where you will spend eternity?

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" -- Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." -- Romans 6:23
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." -- Romans 5:8
"If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;" -- Romans 10:9
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." -- Romans 10:13

Evered memorials
Thank you for creating such well developed memorials, then following up with some first class management. Much appreciated!

Foil Method reading stones
Hi Mark,
We also use the aluminum foil method to read difficult stones.
Gethsemane Cemetery and Pleasant View in Horry County had several stones that were not readable without this technique. Rehoboth Methodist is an ongoing project because of it's size and large number of unreadable stones.
To be able to preserve the information, we find this to be the least invasive way to read stones.
Keep up the good work.

No Chalk Message
Thank you, Mark, for adding the 'No Chalk' message. I sent you a message asking permission to use your foil photo. I love your photos and plan to use them in a 'How-To' article.

Tale care.

James Mackey & family
Thanks so very much for taking and posting the picture of my cousin James Gerald Mackey's grave, and for adding his wife's and son's memorials as well. I didn't even realize their son had passed away. It means a lot to me to be able to see their graves.

Janet and Eddie
Yes, I think about it all the time when I'm photographing stones. Because of the work of Jesus on the cross, I'm going to heaven. Faith in him and him only.

foiling method
Could you please tell me more about the foiling method you use. I'm hoping to learn more about how you did this. I found a link to a person's stone you did a foiling of and was very impressed. thanks for preserving history. janet

RE: Benjamin family
I don't have any photo's of Harriet, but I do have photo's of Lemuel and Philemon Benjamin if you want them. Sandy Benjamin Palmer, my mom's cousin, has a lot of her Dad's (Ward Benjamin) photo's that she is going through and identifying so more may be coming.
