Robin.....You have done an absolutely terrific job photographing most all of Mason Cemetery and for creating memorials for the stones that did not have memorials!

I am very thankful that you take the time to do this and I'm sure everyone that has ancestors or relatives there thank you also!

Hopefully this "pat on the back" will keep you working really hard at taking your photos! HA!

Robin, I wish I could help. I was just in Yates Center a couple of weeks ago to put flowers out and could have asked around then. Knew both Mary Lou and Lois Ann when I was in my early teens but left the area shortly after that so memories are dim. Also I visit Lois Ann's tombstone when I go to Askren as I think it is so beautiful.

The person who put the Yates Center memorials has been quite good about any correspondence I have sent her way so maybe she has some info or could direct you to someone. Of you may just have to do some genealogy research. If I weren't busy getting ready for a family reunion, I'd be glad to offer. If I come up with an idea, I'll certainly let you know. Kathryn

RE: mayse hixon
Robin, The transfer would be great and then I can addd some information to them as well. I contacted a funeral home in Tacoma and I am ordering a headstone for Mayse. I am going to see my mom who lives up there the week of the 25-31 May.
The monument company may be able to make and have the stone in place while I am there so I can get a picture of it to put here. Thanks Sam

RE: mayse hixon
Robin,
I have contacted you before about Mayse. I have her listed in the 1895 Kansas census with her father George and his first wife Louisa Reynolds. George marries Lucy in 1902 and Mayse marries my Great grandfather in 1904. I bought a copy of the Hixon / Mc Bay book from Iva an couple of years ago but there was nothing in it about Mayse. I have been trying to figure out why but maybe she had left so early and died in 1919 that nobody remembered her. Any thing on George and his family would be great. Thanks Sam

Hewitts at Marmaton Cem., Bourbon Co
Hello Robin-- I stumbled on two memorials that you created at Marmaton Cem. in Bourbon co., KS:

60318305, Frances Maria Hewitt
60318306, George E. Hewitt

and they are very exciting to me. I've been looking for both of these people for a long time(!). Thank you, thank you, for including the small, but significant, biographical details. They are *very* significant, and confirm some long-standing suspicions. John W. Hewitt, Frances's husband, was my G-grandfather. Your memorial for Frances supports my suspicion that she came from the Liverpool area. I also strongly suspect that George is John's youngest brother, who disappeared from NJ records ca. 1880. Looks like he went to visit, or stay with, his older brother, and died before returning to NJ.

Thank you for creating those two memorials; they are a huge help. Once I confirm a few more facts, I'll get back to you and ask about transfers. But I want you to know that your work on this cemetery is very significant, and much appreciated!
