Bio and Links
Bio Photo Born 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri. Served in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy. Now retired from law enforcement. I descend from a number of Quaker families that were Underground Railroaders. One of the most well known relatives was my second great-granduncle Col. Samuel Newitt Wood (aka: The Fighting Quaker) of Chase County, Kansas. A number of these relatives were on the most radical side of the Underground Railroad as they aided and abetted Captain John Brown in Kansas and allowed him to train his men on their farms in Iowa just prior to his raid on Harpers Ferry. Col. Sam Wood ended up getting murdered in Stephens County, Kansas during the County Seat Wars.

RE: George T Hodges
Thanks for emailing me back. I appreciate it. We don't know much about the Hodges side. It is very hard to find info on that side for some reason.

Thank you very much for posting a picture of my great grandfather's grave. I don't know if you are related to me or not. My grandparents were Marshall E. Hodges and Eunice Birdwell-Hodges. My father is their youngest son, William T. Hodges. I just started getting into the genealogy stuff. We do not much about the Hodges side of our family. I just started looking up stuff a few weeks ago. Thanks again. Christina North

Good morning,

I just found your photo of Jesseʻs gravestone... thanks for posting it. Jess is my 7th cousin 3X removed... distant, yes, but still on the tree! May I use the photo on my private family tree? I always give credit to the find a grave members who allow me to use their photos. Many thanks...

RE: Francis Hodge
No, I am not related to him but I have the actual obituary from The Steele Enterprise.
Is there a problem?

Hi James,

Nice to hear from you again. Not sure where we left off with this family .

I did find a notice proving Selina Christian married the Parrish so seems if I could find the 2 Parrish children we might learn more about Selina .. Also records indicate Brownlow, son of Selina and Meredith Brewer, had a sister, not sure of the spelling ..Lorner, laura Laurna.. not sure but seems my aunt said she married a Staggs but I have not found her either so for Selina and Meredith it would seem Brownlow, my grandfather, is about all I have dug up so far... I have been working on the other side of my family but getting ready to start again to find Selina's children.. have you searched the Parrish kids at all? I just think they might be our answer for Selina.. have you found any thing new?

I feel having found the marriage notice for Selina and Joel Parrish that now proves her maiden name to be Christian as Brownlow's death certificate indicates so at least we are on the right track.. Good to hear from you... Barb
