Transfers: I will transfer ownership to direct descendants within four generations - the same as Find A Grave guidelines. Otherwise, I'm happy to add to memorials and make links, just click on the "Edit" tab on the top right of the memorial, then click on "Suggest a correction or provide additional information". Be sure to give me the other person's ID number when requesting links.|
One line of my ancestors (CROSE) lived in Tippecanoe Co., IN in the 1820s. Some of their cousins lived in the next county to the south, Boone, and some south of that in Hendricks Co. I live in northern Hendricks Co., and am taking photos mostly in Boone and Hendricks, including the older, more difficult to read stones. Hopefully, these photographs will be around longer than the headstones. Many are on the verge of not being readable - even with the sun at a good angle and using tricks to bring out the text.
Since I've been doing genealogy research for a number of years, I can see a real benefit in seeing headstones, rather than relying on a transcription. To me, the important thing is to be able to read the inscription (names & dates, child of ...), but not really the verse below it. It's also important to know who is buried next to whom. I'll mention that if I notice a connection.
Cemeteries that are completed - meaning that I photographed everything and have posted all that was readable. Other transcriptions may have more names.
Beck - Bethel (Boone Co.) - Bethel (52nd St Indy) - Browns Wonder - Jones
Lowry -Macedonia - Mintonye - Mt Union
Mt. Zion - North Branch - Oak Hill (Sect 1-29, 34N & 34S) - Pleasant Hill (Indy)
Pleasant View (Dover) - Poplar Grove - Prebster - Old Union Church - Richland - Robison - St. Malachy West - Salem
Sparks - Taylor - Trotter (I can only find 33 of the 64 markers) - Weaver - Zionsville
I currently use a 10M Canon Powershot camera which will take pictures at 3648 x 2736 pixels. Normally I reset the resolution to 2272 x 1704 and then on the computer, especially with worn headstones, I turn up the contrast 20-30%, and lower the brightness 5-10% and keep the compression at 98 to 99%. When I started posting for Find a Grave the file size limit was 250 KB, then 350, 500, 750, 2000 3000 and now 8000 KB. I use photo editing software that I downloaded for free - it's much better than what Canon or Olympus gives you with their camera. With Photoscape I know the file size before I save the file.

Thanks for making the updates.
I just haven't added all the info yet. I usually wait a couple of days to make sure any errors are corrected in the obit and all info is completed. Check back in a couple of days.

Got a message from someone that your Elizabeth J.Russell was my Elizabeth Jane Russell. You have a great grave picture, I have more family data. She is my ggrandaunt. Mind transferring to me? I am Contributor #47200592 and your Find A Grave#on Elizabeth is #58926497.
Seems like our lines run pretty paralell!

|John Manning||Susan (Randolph) Riegels # 106066005|
I am doing research on the Randolph family in Iowa. Susan is one of their daughters. I would like to use your tombstone photo of her in my Ancestry Family Tree. Of course, I will show you as the source of the photo.
Thanks for all your work in Find A Grave... it is such a great resource for researching family history.
Marc, if you have the time, perhaps you can change his name?
It is Henry Kane Wood. Thanks, no hurry.
|A. C. Slifer||RE: John Slipher|
Thanks. I guess I'll have to keep looking for additional documentation. If I confirm that his father was Issac Slipher, I will let you know.
Isaac died when John was about 8 years old and so he may have considered his uncle Stephen a father figure. Who knows?
Thanks again for creating the memorial.

Memorial # 122612835
Thanks for creating this memorial for my husband's great grandfather. I am looking for more information about him --
Can you share with me the source of the information that his father was Stephen Slipher? John Slipher's death certificate lists Stephen as his father and Elizabeth Wilson as his mother. However, I have a marriage record that shows Elizabeth Wilson was married to Stephen's brother Issac Slipher (b.1806-d.1843). Is there a mistake on his death certificate, or do you have additional information you might share?
Thanks again for any help you can give me,
Can you transfer Dempsey Britton to me please. He is my great grandfather.

|Sharon Doty Wickham||Doty connection|
You helped me by transferring my mother Flossie Lou Prideaux Doty's memorial to me. I see you also have a memorial for Julia Gavin Doty of Cook County, Illinois. She was my great grandmother on my father's side. My dad is Jim Doty, originally from Oelwein, Iowa. Are you closely related to Julia Gavin Doty or her husband James Calvin Doty? He was originally from Auglaize Ohio and took his family to Chicago where hi died. I cannot find a grave for him so far. Please let me know your connection. Thank you
Sharon Doty Wickham, Florida
